I dont call it the dreamkiller for nothing... If I do manage to kill the M20 first, I have a sinister aluminum monster part deux idea that I will waste way too much money on, hopefully that doesnt happen
E30 4 LYFE (any 5 speed swap parts? :) )
This will be the approach as I get closer to the actual swap, especially if I have the parts ready to goSimon

You suck!.. jk
Nothing much going on with the car but I am closing in on completing all of the parts to do a steering rack swap minus the actual rack itself. I haven’t totally decided which one yet but I’m leaning towards the Z3 and retaining power steering.
Still taking input on the racks themselves. It will have to be easily powered and converted. No wild linkages please but I’m listening.Simon

Happy New Year everyone!
I started the new year by changing the oil on my E30. Figured I would have a nice baseline of when I changed it. Just shy of 170k also, so it should be easy to monitor for 2018.
Also hooked up a Cerwin Vega subwoofer and changed the front speakers with some from Kicker. Friend helped “tune” it and it sounds great. Punched out the ski pass hole and the box is positioned on the other side of it. Liked what I saw so I snapped a pic

Part of the oil change also included changing the drain plug for a magnetic one. Let’s see what it shows in a few months

I also bought this steering linkage so the only thing left for my rack swap is the rack itself. I’m still not 100% sure which one I’m going with but that should happen soon.

Looking forward to 2018. Both my cars hit celebratory milestones. This one is officially 30 years and my Datsun hits 50!Simon

You can use the knuckle for an early model euro car. Its pnp just need to space the rack at the subframeComment

Made another step towards the 5speed swap. Purchased the manual pedal setup. Ive also been working slowly on having all the little pieces ready to go. I’ll be dropping off the single mass flywheel to the machine shop soon too. Just waiting for a few parts to sell so it comes from the car fund. This last bit has been fun too... probably cut myself every time I’ve played with this stuff

Here’s where I’m at now. I haven’t installed the rod because I’m not sure what kind of grease to use on the ball

I also need to get the last of that rear bushing about. I didn’t burn it but I probably should’ve. It’s been a pain in the assSimon
