    No More stinking AFM!!

    After only who knows how long of talking about doing a MAF conversion, I finally threw one on my 85 eta with a 2.7i stroker:D I used an e35 m50 MAF(with an e30 air intake sensor installed in it), made my own plug and play harness, an Inovative LC-1 wideband, Apexi SAFC piggyback, 19lb injectors and an adjustable fuel pressure regulator. It was super easy to dial in, and runs like a champ, it sounds so mean now with the open intake :pimp: I realy only noticed a little HP gain, but it runs so much more smoother at every RPM points, no hesitation etc...

    awesome job. Is the apexi device the one that used to be the afm piggyback system? It think it used to have a different name - i've thought about it as an alternative to MAXX a/n.

              and just think exist an almost $1k MAF ford conversion wich won't give you the same features as this one, Apexi, more powerfull device and the LC-1 giving you the correct AFR. Both are half less than buying that MAF/Ford conversion kit.

                      I have one of those AFM's and harness sitting around and a intake with dinan filter that will fit! Looks like i know what my next project is!

                        Well it does have more power, and throttle response is amazing. I just got back from a 2 hour drive threw the local mtn's with a friend. Car ran perfect the complete time, I did get a little pinging around 3500 rpm's during low throttle but that's it. The Apexi is called an airflow convertor, and had many preprogramed inputs and outputs for all different type Air flow meters. It has has de-accelleration values also which I need to mess with as it jerks a little when you let off the throttle. The cost for all this was as follows
                        E36 Maf-$50
                        Filter-$25
                        Wiring plug etc...-$10
                        Apexi-$100(purchased used)
                        LC-1-$200
                        19lb injectors-$40
                        Adjustable FPR-$140
                        AFR guage-$30
                        So about $600 all said and done.
                        The split second kit is way overprice, and dosn't offer enough adjustments. The apexi has 8 different adjustment points for both a low throttle and high throttle map. I may even buy a newer Apexi latter that offers more tuning points.

                              thanks guys, next thing up is some full length headers I think:pimp: As I'm still just running eta down pipes into an I muffler, but it gives tons of low end torque which is nice.
