    People act like e30 m3's are god & gold. Guess what!? They're not. You can pick up an original e30 m3 in great shape these days with low miles for $20k. Sorry, but in this world, $20k isn't shit. They sold for a hell of a lot more new then they are worth right now, they sold for around $36k, fifteen years ago! Thats a shit ton more money back in the day then it is now. Yeah, they are going back up in value. But still far from the cost of new.

    Also, people are ranting and raving about keeping the car stock, blah blah blah. Half (probably more, my survey isn't 100% accurate) of the so called 'purists' are nothing but a bunch of hypocrites. Hypocrites that do mods/damage much worse then changing out the engine. I can think of plenty of other things worse than an engine swap. Oh here’s a good one, tracking e30 m3s! Have at it! More power to you! Have fun, it's your car. But when you wrap that thing around a tree or plow into another car, you really can't just return it to stock form. When you drop a s50 variant into the car you can return it to stock, so no the car didn't bite the dust. But people cheer tracking e30 m3's everyday. So do I, I don't hate for you taking the chance of totaling your car. Also, for those who track e30s real hard, I'm sure you know but you can tell by looking at the roof of the car. They get wavy, and I'll bet that’s more work to fix than swapping out a motor. Not to mention the chassis probably has permanent damage.

    FYI to all of you (you know who you are), an S14 is just an engine! Yeah, just an engine! They can be changed. All the 'another one bites the dust' type comments shouldn't be posted. That’s BS and you guys know it. Wheels, exhaust, s14 builds, body parts, seats, stereos, etc... can all be changed out.

    Take a guess how many bolts hold the engine in the car? Yeah, not many. Right? It's a day worth of work to return these car back to stock, for those of you who actually know how to spin a wrench.

    Also, about the whole S14 is the heritage of the car BS, and keep the car stock comments... You guys run out and change everything and rebuild the motor to a different spec then stock, Yeah sure, it's a rebuild to 2.5l, but correct me if I'm wrong but that motor came in a Evo model... Why don't you (purists) go buy an Evo. Oh wait, you probably don't have the money to do that (generally speaking) so instead you rape a stock e30 m3. You should just put the motor in a regular ol' e30 Remember, the cars that are going to be worth real money are the cars that are 100% stock. 2.5l builds will still be worth money, so will DOHC swapped cars, but neither will be worth as much as a good stock car that wasn't ever tracked with all service records.

    Come on, grow up. Other e30 m3s didn't go up in value because me, bimmer, vlad and all the others changed our motors. They go up in value as more of these cars enter junk yards.

Having an adult disagreement and discussing different points of view is "shitting" on a thread? I dont think people should keep ANY comments to themselves. Or are we just saying what people want to hear? I absolutely agree about us modifying our cars and preaching about going up in value. I know mine wont be as valuable as an untouched example. But theres one point, Im not ever selling mine. I made the comment due to the fact that E30 ///M3's are surpassing E36's in price already and every magazine has put out articles about it being a modern classic. Thats all, dont get so angry about it.

      Mariano, its cool dude, I'm calm. That was not pointed towards you, it was pointed towards everyone in general that can't see past the fact its just a motor swap that can be reversed.

      You know how much people catch flack around here for e30 m3 swaps. Some of the comments people leave are just plain stupid & immature.

          Wow, this thread really went to shit. Bimmer, I love the car, it looks great and I can't really blame you for swapping in that engine + FI. I think we forget that we have people from across the globe on this site sometimes. Location plays in a big part in ones perspective.

          They only brought 5000 or so E30 M3's to the US and of which there are probably about 1/2 that still on the road which makes them pretty rare here unless you run in BMW circles. A lot of times I'll recognize the same car switch hands between 2-3 different owners! Also remember that US S50's are 240HP and aren't the S50's the rest of the world got. Over here, E36's are kind of the Honda of BMW's and their prices have dropped significantly. Decent E30 M3's are outselling E36 M3's especially in metropolitan areas. So who says 20K isn't impressive? It is when a standard E30 is about 1/4-1/2 that and the next generation M3 with more power is selling for about 1/2-3/4 that.

          Personally, I would have done it to a standard E30 which are cheaper to obtain, plentiful and easily replaced. Aerodynamics, brakes, suspension would be upgraded anyway. There are also lightweight panels/fenders that could bolt right on also for the M3 widebody look. Good opportunity to go lighter and wider also.

          As for the purist comments it's not so much about keeping the car Stock, very few E30 M3's are bone stock. It's about where to draw the line. The E30 M3 w/S14 had a great history, it worked well then and it still does. So the mods a purist would do would be to improve that combination...not just scrap the engine (because you know better) and turn the car into something BMW M never intended it to be and change the nature of the car. I just think that with most cars it's not a big deal but when you have a car that's recognized as an icon with dwindling numbers then it is a big deal.

                      I´m selling my car soon enough, as I´m moving out of the country and storing it for 4years is just stupid, I´d rather have somebody else enjoy it all that time, I already have one who´s ready to buy it when it hits the streets again.

                      You know the price I got my M3 for, no other E30 M3 in this country (beeing 5-6 in total) where for sale and or at the right price for me, even importing the worst M3 possible would not have been cheaper.

                      I had plans to mess with the Europameister but I´m not,
                      I just can´t get myself to do it no matter how much I tell my self it´s my car and I can do whatever I want to, It´s got leather interior when I like regular better, and I surtenly aint going to part out the interior of this car.

                      When I come back from the UK I´m bringin over a E30 M3, just a plain one I can mess with, I don´t like leather interior, to many accessories and so on

                      For me it´s the look that does it, as all the M3 suspension parts can be bolted into a normal E30, and for that matter better stuff as well, along with engine, interior and so on,

                      Everybody has got normal E30´s and I don´t want that for the long run,
                      I want something that sticks out in it´s original clothing. Has there ever been a body kit for the M3? no, cause nobody has ever been able to better the looks made from BMW back in ´86.

                            It seems to me that this whole thread is all about m/s/50 guys crying. I have seen noone really cry about the s14-s50 except the s50 guys.

                            and the e30M3 isnt "god&gold"--------hahahahahhaha you are so misinformed!! I live in Germany, which is the size of 1 state in the U.S. Here there were roughly 6000 M3s sold. they are still worth 15-20 thousand(not alot in your BIG BALLER eyes), but a REGULAR 325 isnt worth much more than500 dollars. so do the math. It is a pretty important car to plenty then in my eyes.


                            BTW, I regularly have sex with my tailpipe, so yes, I love mine that much.
