LOL, no non BMW power for my BMWs.
However, mates of mine are actually importing V8's from OZ to put into BMWs.
Sad but true.Leave a comment:

I thought it was a V8 and was going to be a little upset if it was non BMW
Then counted the cylinders

However... a good friend had planted the V10 idea.... it fermented for a while in my brain and here we are :)

What happened to the old setup? Too many problems? Or....? I imagine lots of $$ went into it. Why the sudden change?Leave a comment:

The work will be done here in Iceland, not by Tauber.
However I get some help from friends in Europe with engine stuff as well as electronics/programming.Leave a comment:

Just read through your entire thread.
At first it was amazing, now it will be epic. Are you having the same shop do the V10 installation?
Keep the updates coming!Leave a comment:

It is a sleeved S85 block (the one from the E60 M5). The plan is to build a 5.4 liter stroker, ca. 600hp. Also plan on using a DCT transmission from the E9X M3.
Here you can see a dyno graph from a similar motor I´m building:
As for weight it should not weigh more than the current setup. The S50 has a steel block vs. the aluminium in the V10. Also I´ll be taking the water cooled intake system out.
600 solid NA hp in a ca. 1300 kg E30 should be fun ;DLeave a comment:

Wow! Just read this thread from beginning to end. Please say more about your ideas for using the aluminum block v10. What engine is that? How much more will it weigh? Amazing work!Leave a comment:

I guess an update is in order.
Slight change of plans:
Got this small shipment, a bag that could not be checked in on a flight from Denmark to Iceland. So it was delivered by UPS:
Hmm, very well packed.
Isabella is not moving it a millimeter, it´s 54kg!!!
:giggle:
If the S14 purists disliked the S50 they sure are going to have
a cow now
