New LS1 Owners - Newbie Tech - ls1 weight - anybody knows how much an ls1 engine weights with the intake and the water pump on, with no oil in it.????

when my buddy went to va and originally picked up my 13b keg he picked it up by himself and set it in the front seat of his prelude for the ride home.
Can you do that with an ls1?
    no

He eventually showed me enough sources and data to convince me that the for the full swap (Ls1 into an FD) that it actually comes out at a slight weight savings(an sr20 with turbos and plumbing is also going to be heavier than the LS1 btw). I don't have the sources he gave me from that discussion, nor do I have any information on the S14 but but id expect it to be pretty close to the rotary if not lighter.

Just out of curiosity anyone know anything about how an F20c would compare?

LOL. Yea i will need to upgrade the leaky 318i diff i bet. ill find one from a 325i and roll. Not sure what the FD had in it.
Update: Spoke with Steve Osley today, going to go stock ecu no boost controller for now. should still be plenty power.
Need to set up an account with RHD Japan and get that stuff ordered get this keg together.

then they are retarded. most people would assume that you would need a diff made for an E30, not a 7 series. if you want a part for your ford truck do you go looking for a taurus?

as scbeamer will tell you even an FC (turbo) with the 13bt will easily waste an e30. Stock FD makes 255hp/215tq that's a pretty healthy gain over the m20 or s14 just stock for stock. Single turbo setups get into the 400s.

Going to talk to Steve Osley tomorrow hopefully put together a time frame to get the keg assembled and get started with getting this thing in. I think he's in the middle of a 20b build so a lil busy right now. It's ok I can wait a while in order to save a bunch o' $$$$$$.
Just to clear a few things up:
    1. Yes I have a 20b intercooler Steve found it in his crawlspace under his house. :) Slighty better than the PATHETIC FD one, i have one of those too.
    2. Stock twins ( Non - sequential setup )
    3. Stock ECU for now
    4. No Emissions, no cat, no nada
    5. Boost controller with mild setting planned
    6. Stock FD trans
    7. will need custom driveshaft
    8. Need better Diff for rear end still
    9. FD radiator fits perfectly got one for 20 bux.
You are really going to need a standalone unless you keep the cats... Also the Stock e30 rear shouldn't have any problems. Matt325is has been running 300 + WHP for 30k miles on his car with no issues at all. Also all the FD guys upgrade to bigger rads because they all seem to have cooling problems. You are going to at least run 850/850 injectors with anything more than stock boost. You are also going to want to get a bigger IC, intakes and ignition upgrades. One of my best friends is a rotor head. He has had 4 FD, many FCs and a SA..
