Prepped the aluminums and irons for assembly today, seals and such on their way. Took the time to weigh the pieces of the engine, rotors, irons, alum. housings, e shaft, even got down to the bucket of dowels and seals and gears, pulleys, and then added in turbos w/ mainfold, and intake manifold and throttle body:
To put the debate to rest we came up with a final weight of 235 lbs.

      [Cartman voice]Awesome.[/Cartman voice]

Just to put things in perspective, a stock S14 weighs around 350 lbs. (complete) and a complete M50/S50 weighs in at a whopping 420 lbs. :o Even the alloy-blocked M52 (which people consider to be a "lightweight") comes in at around 355 lbs. The lightest "modern" BMW engine is the M10, at a featherweight 180 lbs. (long-block).

According to your measurements, a 13B-REW complete with both turbos is over 100 lbs lighter than an S14. That is VERY impressive indeed.

Basically, you've got 300 hp in a package that's probably about the same size and weight as a complete M10. Not bad at all.

So, here is some progress for you guys. My buddy and I worked on the floor pan some tonight. i spent the last couple of nights cleaning up the paint and rust and cutting some metal and he came over and welded in the 1st patches.

that was taken with my Q , i know its a sucky picture but we're moving along. slowly for sure, but moving

Any news? I'm still hoping for details about the mechanics (especially how well the tranny fits and where the shift lever ends up in the cabin) and how the wiring is going.

whaaaaaaaaat NO!!! Rustbox FTW. Yes a new chassis has been picked up. Also RHDJapan has the SLOWEST shipping known to man. Between finding a new chassis and setbacks from RHD the project has been bogged down. Hopefully soon my parts will arrive. I thought I should do everything as good as could be on the motor, since if it did pop on me I figured I'd never hear the end of it on this board. :)

I might have to drop in and check this thing out sometime soon.

"See, we're adding a little something to this month's sales contest. As you all know, first prize is a Cadillac Eldorado. Anyone wanna see second prize? Second prize is a set of steak knives. Third prize is you're fired."
