Drop it like it's hot (lowered my car)

I made the 1.5 hour drive down to Corvallis this morning and Jordan and I (mostly Jordan) installed some new lowering spring I got. They're Tokicos (they were cheap) and they're 60mm drop ones, which are necessary for the 318 because it's so light. It took about 1hr 45 minutes of working to get them all in.

    Before:

    With Basketweaves (no drop):

    After:

While installing the springs, we noticed that every single one of my shocks was completely blown. I'm now in search of the best deal for some Bilstein sports.

Why would you install lowering springs with OE shocks (especially old ones) in the first place?

Realisticly it makes no difference. stock springs vs. lowered springs with the blown shocks/struts.

His car is absolutely no more bouncy now then it was before. It just floats over bumps like a cadallac :)

Looks much better but could be lower IMHO... Are you running spring pads?

looks better, but still looks like it needs a bit more drop.

Save for coil-overs, I don't think I can get it to drop anymore. Those springs will drop a 325 2.5". My car is so much lighter in the front and rear, it's only lowering it about 1.75"-2".

With the drop, our 318s don't look too lowered, but man, the tires fill the wheel well very nicely. How hard was the install? I'm looking to pull this mod next on mine...

Much better then that 4x4 you had before.
The BMW 318 is back. With a vengeance.

Yeah, the 318s are so light that they don't compress the springs that much. If I had the tar and a battery in my trunk it'd be about 1/2" lower.

The install wasn't bad, although I did about 2% of the work on it. Jordan did the whole thing in a little less than two hours. It goes a lot faster when you know what you're doing. The rears are really easy to do, the fronts take about 5x the amount of time to do. It was nowhere near as complicated as I had anticipated.

Much improved! The springs will settle some, but the new shocks will bring it back up again.

It's too bad they don't make 100mm drop ones for your car

looks way better ken. Have you thought about taking out the spring pads to give it more of a drop?
