    Ohh herro

New member (used to lurk) posting.

First car was a '97 Maxima (practical, reliable, fun VQ30DE motor and a 5 speed), had that for 3 years until I wrecked it a few weeks ago. FWD, understeer, wheel hop, chassis made from wet noodles, I did plenty to fix all that but eventually it fell victim to an off camber decreasing radius turn with dirt at the apex.

    to

Didn't have full coverage so from the money I got from mods I bought an '87 325i for $1200. It's got a long laundry list of problems (and a little body rust) but even with blown struts, open 3.73 no alignment etc it's more fun than my old maxima was.

Just figured I'd introduce myself before I started posting.

I'm fixing the broken tach (I'm looking for those damn nicads, anyone know where to get some?) right now but in a bit will come timing belt, dizzy cap and rotor, maybe the t stat water pump etc, possibly a valve adjustment. Pretty sure my driver's front caliper is seized so I'll get on that too, then I'll get started restoring the suspension.

    How's it going r3v? :D

Welcome. I think you can still source those batteries at a Radio Shack.

Every day I wake up we drink a lot of coffee and watch the CNN
Every day I wake up to a bowl of clover honey and let the locusts fly in.
    Lobsterbacks attack the town again

Every time I look out my window same three dogs looking back at me.
Every time I open my windows cranes fly in to terrorize me.

I tried but no dice, all of the batteries that looked like they could fit were higher voltage, typically 3+ volts. Mar vac was closed (and will be tomorrow) but my roommate tells me they have comparable batteries at rite-aid (claiming they're just camera batteries), so I'm about to mob down there and check it out.

What happened to Jordan anyway? I started lurking when E30sport got shut down, just curious what the deal is now.

Bit of rust on the hood
            Oxidation
            Rear window doesn't roll down
lots 'o lifter tick (pretty normal with M20s I guess) plus a tiny sputter in the idle, hopefully the new dizzy and plugs will fix it
            radio doesn't work
            AC/heater (blower) doesn't work
OBC doesn't work (I think all three are due to a fuse or a bad wiring job)
blown suspension, needs sway bar end links and all strut mounts, probably LCAs and tie rods too
            frozen caliper
wiper switch is misaligned so they work intermittently
brake light switch is iffy (probably just needs readjustment)
passenger's side low beam was installed twisted so the beam pattern was sideways :nice: (fixed immediately)

interior's in great shape though, non-sport black leather in near perfect condition :D

puts a huge grin on my face though. Gotta love the gearing and the M20's sound.

Atleast you know where your car control skills diminished. Judging by the photos, it looks like your were able to keep the car in a failry true direction after you lost it...

I wouldn't really say I lost it, just understeered straight into an embankment. You know... FWD style. ;)

Speaking of understeer, I'm already getting sick of the open diff.

If your radio, OBC, tach and MPG guage dont work, it might not be because of the si batteries.

There is a wire that goes to the back of the tach that sends 12v to the tach in the plug that connects to the Tach in the back of the cluster. I replaced it with a wire temporarily with a fuse to a 12 volt source and it fixed all 3 problems. I'll try to find a thread, it had pictures.

EDIT:Cant find the thread but i will be going home next week. I'll just checl

Understeer's a bitch isnt it?, thats how my 02 accord got demolished, that and I was a stupid young driver. Badvibrations sig is basically what happened to me, except the brakes were cooked on a downhill. Anyway, welcome to the dark side!
