Thank you sir george. There is no alternative aside from maybe cutting a slot into the rack. Red loctite is the practice for Z3 racks (they come from the factory with no locking plates)

Ahh...I see. When I did my e36 m3 '95 rack swap, I ordered two different style of locking places - just incase. One that "keys in" like a woodrift slot and another design that is a two(three?) layer design meant for z3 racks.

I'll trust you on the red locktite thing.

It's just when it comes to steering, I don't like to mess around. Brake...Meh.....you can live without for a test run.

Good to know - I have a 95' m3 rack. And got the lock plates on.....my worst nightmare is for a wheel to go rouge on me.

Even with locktite - I'd be tempted to drill a hole and put in some safty wire...call me maybe****cough***.....crazy...
