not in all cases. more pistons = more clamping capability and usually softer pedal feel and slower caliper responce but with each piston able to accomidate more clamp load - its a tradeoff.

its in like the first "basic" menu, under Required Fuel. you enter the engine displacement, injector size, the # of cylinders, target afr, and a few other variables. You have a long road ahead of you if you haven't passed that step.

so i called matt and came to realize i didn't recall correctly he mentioned displacement to determine the required fuel nothing more. it was a simple misunderstanding/lack of notetaking that caused my confusion. it happens. in any case, i'd already found that tab and played around with it a bit. it really is amazing to me just how many different parameters that thing computes. i'm glad i went that route.

what kind of budget do you have? an s38 can make the kind of power you're after with new forged pistons and rods, dlc coated bearings, a fairly aggressive head job, cams, dry sump, stand alone engine management, massively upgraded fuel system, and to make sure the thing holds itself together you're going to need to convert to head studs and main studs i'd try to get some lp-19 ARP studs if you can. you'll probably be in the 425 REAL rwhp the problem is that when you try to make that kind of power NA on a streetcare with less than 300 cubic inches is that you have massive reliability issues. i'm not saying it can't be done you just need to have deep pockets in order to get the stuff that can be reliable.

the s50b32 NA will probably only net you 300 real RWHP if you do everything mentioned above, maybe a little more but again you need to have money and a lot of it. i would look into a turbo'd motor because thats how these in line 6's make massive power.

best of luck to you but i do want to know your budget. if you tell me anything less than say 10,000 there is no way you're going to get it out of a bmw engine NA, now if you tell me i have both engines at my house with wiring and megasquirt ready to go into the car and have 6500 to build them you have a shot but you're going to need money and a lot of it.
