Well... she is DONE!!! And the totals are in... GRAND total = $2147.23. Like I said, "semi budget." I knew I was going to spend extra money like the hot coatings and stuff like that to make it a clean and "kit" looking install. I hope I accomplished that.

Though I did get a great deal on the BIG dollar main components, it's the little things that add up very quickly. I still think that dollar/hp ratio is pretty good and if I get 200rwhp out of it I will be 10000000% satisfied. If you were to buy a complete turbo kit with manifold, engine management, turbo, tune, every line/fitting/gauge, etc... it would easily run $4000+ so I think I still made out pretty well. Also sold my reground cams and chip for $200 so that helped offset costs a little.

Here is EVERYTHING that was purchased including tools that I didn't have/couldn't find but needed:

Turbo (Mitsu Starion) w/ Internal Wastegate and Actuator
    Manifold
    AEM UEGO Wideband Controller
    VDO Boost Gauge
    Air Intake Temp Sensor
    Plug n Play Megasquirt
    Oil Feed Line
Oil Pan w/ Turbo Drain Tapped
    Silicon Intake Elbow
    Valve Cover Gasket
    Oil Pan Gasket
    Oil Filter
Hot Coating for hot side of turbo, manifold, and downpipe
10" Electric Fan to replace stock AUX fan for AC
Custom A/C low side line to fit around turbo
Custom oil line with T fitting
    Refrigerant (frion)
    Misc Bolts
    Blow off Valve
    Intercooler
    Intercooler Piping Kit
    Rewelding of Turbo Manifold
Custom exhaust (2.5" Downpipe to 3" from back of motor to muffler)
    Serial Cable (for Megasquirt)
3 Circuit Harness (for wiring of 10" fan)
    Rubber reducers (only 1)
    Snap Ring Pliers Set
    Downpipe Flange
    Oil
    Paint
    Gasket Scraper
    Breather for ICV
Rocker Switch for hardwiring main Efan
    Vacuum T's, Splices, and Hosing
    Spark Plugs & Gapper
    Electric Oil Pressure Gauge
    Motor Honey
    Magnetic P/U Tool

this is a great build! I'm planning my build for next year right now and you've been a great help! I'm looking to keep my AC as well, can you pm me the models for both the main EFan and the 10" AC fan that you used! Thanks!

LOL... let me recover a little bit financially and the first stop will be to the dyno for base run and tuning. A buddy (older gentlemen w/ loads of exp) estimates I'm over 200rwhp easily now. So as long as his butt dyno holds out I'll be a happy man.

Thanks to everyone for the comments. I'll work on getting a vid up for you guys as soon as the weather clears up. Been daily'ing it and so far so good :fingers crossed:. Haven't run into any issues yet except cold start, but that's because the megasquirt has not been tuned for cold days yet. In texas we just got our first set of cold days below 90 degrees!!!

I'm so keen for you to get to a dyno now, that sounds great! As a base I'm shooting for 12psi with a fresh engine and studs, not sure if I'm going to o-ring it yet though.

Did you manage to find any compressor maps for your turbo? would be interesting to see what sort of efficiency your at.

Not to hijack, but would you tune that at home?

                  You're in Newcastle, right?

12psi is fun :) I set it at that for a couple of runs just for s's and g's. I couldn't run it up all the way since my injectors were at 84% duty cycle at around 4300rpm, but it was still alot of fun. I think I'll stick where mine is at though until I upgrade to bigger injectors. 9.5psi is still pretty fun.

BTW fresh motors FTW. Mine's not super fresh, but only 45000 since rebuild. Oh, what do you mean compressor maps? Most turbos run 80-90% efficiency don't they?

                        One of these bad boys

Thats the compressor map of the turbo I have. Pressure ratio is how much boost your running + atmospheric pressure (14.7) and the flow rate converts to roughly how much power the turbo can support at that pressure ratio. On 10.5 psi, my turbo in theory should support ~240bhp and be about 75% efficient at that stage. (Atleast thats what i think it all meant, did all this quite a while ago, the thread on bimmerforums was really helpful)

Would be interesting just to see how efficient you turbo is etc....i guess at the same time you will be able to work that out on the dyno, based on IAT's and the Area under the torque curve.

I have some 55lbs injectors so I should be right fuel wise :D

re: fresh engine, I don't have a choice, compression test came back at 120psi....which is well below the factory minimum in the bentley (~150psi)

I'll stop cluterring your thread with my useless garbage now :)

Just spoke to the guys at a local domestic performance shop (used to go there when I had my mustang). I know them well and was one of their first customers... lol feels so long ago, they've outgrown 3 shops now.

Anyway, they said they can tune it and will set me up with 5 hours of dyno time for $300. That's with the OG hookup of course. Sooooo looks like I'll be getting it dyno'd within the next month. :) Color me excited.
