The DME and gauge temp senders could not have gotten switched because the DME is a two prong and the gauge is a single prong. The wire going to the gauge sender is brownish with a whitish stripe.

so its running now just a pegged temp gauge?Comment

maybe a bad sensor? i cant see how it went bad from motor to motor though...Comment

Swapped temp senders and still the same thing. Unplugging the sensor does the same thing as well so the gauge isint getting a signal from the sensor. Is it possible that I put the wrong connector on it? Are there any other single pin connectors that I could have mixed it up with?Your signature picture has been removed since it contained the Photobucket "upgrade your account" image.Comment

Sounds like you have the engine wired wrong.Comment

Got the car started yesterday and it idles fine after a few noob things I overlooked in my haste. It turns out I had my oil pressure and temp sender plugs wrong but still the same issue. So the plug that goes to the temp sender has to wires but only one gets used right? Once I get my Z3 temp switch I will install the cooling system and see if that helps. Fingers crossed.Your signature picture has been removed since it contained the Photobucket "upgrade your account" image.Comment

yes, some plugs have 2 deals but most temp senders are 1 prongComment

Ya it was pretty cool to get all the local guys over. I had 5 E30s in my driveway at one time. Got the shift linkage all together tonight. Turns out im going to need to shim my motor mounts to get the headers to clear the subframe.Your signature picture has been removed since it contained the Photobucket "upgrade your account" image.Comment
