    Good news first:

    - Side skirts are in

    Bad news:
    - While installing rebuilt locks to match the cut to the VIN bmw key I broke the fricking glass. Screw driver slipped inside the door while I was removing the "c" clip holding the door lock cylinder and made a mess. Off tomorrow to find an early manual glass. FUN.

Got the bitch replaced...decided not to do the other side today. Still waiting for the ignition cylinder from the dealer to arrive...

Anybody want to buy some glass, will ship CHEAP lol

Wow - you killed a window with a screwdriver. I'm impressed actually.

Seriously, it just happened in split second and good thing I closed my eyes quick enough lol.

I am thinking I'll stop by and pick up some sound deadening tomorrow as well, do all of that stuff at once. I have the new "water" sheets that stick to the door panels waiting, just need to cut them properly. When you order those, they don't come pre-cut.

Trying to look up on realoem what years/cars had manual windows of this kind... watch tomorrow I'll probably only find a bunch of 4 door cars or power only.

            What are these "water" sheets?

Good project by the way. I had no idea what kind of e30 you had.

And are you sure the windows are different? It's been a long time since I replaced my window, but it seemed like it could have worked both ways.

Late model glass (power) is different from the early (non power) for sure.

Here is the front door glass from my 89 2 door. Note where the two mounts are.

The early glass has two shorter mounts on opposite sides:

side closest to the front of the car

'floats' with this end attached to the glass

and the rear mount is held with 2 bolts

Yeah, there are actually two sheets. One is the clear plastic attached to the door panels that you have to cut from the sheets that bmw sells you. And the other thicker "softer" material that's added to the back of the door cards (probably to act as sound insulation).

Found 1 early 2 door car today with manual windows... and it was a half off day on glass LOL. Replaced, wasn't too bad. Took a while to get all the glass out of the door though.

New ignition lock cyl. came in today as well, now I have all four matching locks and a factory key, none of that cheap locksmith made clones that bend over time etc...

Might autocross it tomorrow, on my 195 all seasons ROFL.

Took my car out to local autocross, it was a charity event. I wanted to see how the car felt, and what areas need improvement. I was running a temp set of 15 BBS RA with some worn out 205/50 rt615 tires. It was a power oversteer city, not enough tire for this swap. I'll be looking at running at least 225" wide tires for sure. It was almost impossible to come out of the corners w/o having some opposite lock... get's old.
Pics didn't come out that well.

jean! i did a charity auto cross last sunday with 195's on 15's and yes it was oversteer city! i really thought the 195's were ok until i ran the event. Def need to go alot wider! I already went lower on coils and replaced all my front bushings and joints since the event.

                          car looks good!

Thanks! I might keep these for a little bit, not sure yet. They deff. need new tires though.

GG - I believe it was your fully detailed swap thread (saved it) that did it for me, and Franks as well! Thanks!

One thing I forgot to mention is it seems like I was getting some fuel starvation with the last runs, tank had about 1/4 of gas in it. This was at the ends of section of turns, so it was a good amount of time with the car settled in a corner and after a few seconds it wouldn't rev higher than 4.5-5k for about 1/3 - 1/2 a second while going full throttle. I had to let off the gas, and get on the gas again and it was fine. It did this 2-3 times on the last few runs. Never had this issue before, but I've never ran this engine with this little gas in the tank. I did have a spare (stock ecu) on me, and it did the same thing. I was running 91 octane with dinan 91octane / 6900 rpm chip. It felt exactly the same as my old audi I had last year when it's high pressure fuel pump failed and it would just hit a brick wall at random speeds/rpms.....

Wish it was simple to just switch to one pump on this car... no oil starvation like on my old m10 though :) I am also really happy with the s3.46 ratio, so far it's working great!
