I'll have to give that a shot! Thanks:p
I was thinking about keeping it like that with the raw metal, maybe add a pinstripe or something. I wanna see it 100% rusted first though:D
Glad to hear some people like it!
In other news, I have a .48/.64 Turbo, bigger than previously thought:mrgreen:

Love what youve done with it. A purist would disagree but you resurrected that thingLeave a comment:

Awesome Pic, you should have rubbed that baby down with olive oil.

ahhhh I love this so much!
If you want to speed up the rust mix hydrogen peroxide, vinegar and salt. It pretty much instantly rusts the car as long as its on bare metal. I just did it on my hood and it turned out great except for the couple stupid spots I didn't get all the primer off...:curse:Leave a comment:

Turbo needs a rebuild. I took off the intake afm/filter and checked the shaft for play, and there was some:eeek: Oh well, it's a 23 year old turbo with 100,000 plus miles, I'm surprised it held up through all it did, plus a whole track weekend.
So I ordered a eBay rebuild kit once I figured out that I have a TB2543 Garrett. It's supposed to be here next Monday, so I'll probably disassemble the turbo this week & rebuild it when the kit comes!

As soon as these came in the mail I wrapped up the bearing install

Put the new inner dust cap on...

Tapped on the new bearing with the socket

Studs back in and loctite'd as well as the new collar nut

Then I put the wheel back on, tightened it to 215 ft lbs, and punched in the crush section of the nut. That was that!

And it was finally back on the ground after that!

Decided that the turbo needed a little more air flow, so I temporarily hooked this up. Just some ducting connected to a brake duct

The I figured out why I couldn't boost past 6psi. My MBC was hooked up incorrectly. This sticker was placed backwards:hitler: There's a ball and spring placed inside the T fitting to act as a restrictor. I had it flipped around before, so I was bypassing the MBC lol.

And this is the diagram I followed

Quick question for any of you who have used the MonkeyMadness 524 td manifold adaptors, what's a cost friendly gasket set?
Also, I finished the wheel bearing install, painted my exhaust black, changed my wastegate block plate gasket, and took a video. Car only has 6psi in it though, I need a stronger wg spring:(Leave a comment:

Started on the wheel bearing in the parking lot. Still waiting on the spindle nut to finish it, but that should be here Thursday. Then I can drive to the junkyard to get a "new" drive axel to replace mine. The boot tore a few months ago & I just let it go. So of course it filled with grease and dirt and now the CV joint is bad, but that's another story. Thankfully it's a quick item to change lol. On to the pics!
Quick overview of the special stuff I had to get. 36mm thin wall socket, 3 jaw puller, replacement Moog bearing.

The beginning:

Studs out! Need to grab some loctite for when I re-install them. Also punched out the crush section of the spindle nut with a hammer & flat head.

Rotor & spindle nut off

A peek inside of a noisy, old wheel bearing

Test fitted the puller a few times. The threaded rod kept trying to thread into the spindle:evil:

Here was my solution. A 3 inch 3/8'' extension

It's off:ohsnap:

Pics of the old beast

Took the brake dust shields off. Still had to get the inner grease cap off since I got a new one:p

Old parts! I'm planning on making some new fancy brake shields, so this guy will stay off;)

And here's all the old bearing stuff. The inner race got stuck on the spindle when I removed the bearing so I had to go back in for round II to get it off. Came out easy:D

And the current state of things

Yes, I know my ball joints are shot. I have new ones ready to go in once I get a ball joint puller.Leave a comment:

Ordered a new Moog front passenger wheel bearing/hub. Apparently according to some old threads Moog hubs come with FAG bearings, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed for now. I may have broken a rocker as well, updates to comeLeave a comment:
