I would agree that we do need more M42's out there they are a good engine just because they do not make as much HP as the S14, M50, S50 do, It dose not mean that it is shit.

The M42 makes 12.5hp/Lt/1000rpm compared the the S14 which is 11.92hp/Lt/1000rpm which is pritty good for a 20 year old car. The only down side to the M42 is the fact that the most displacement you can get is 2.1Lt which limits you max Hp.

You know your stuff. I've only had mine for a week now and I absolutely loved the way it revs and accelerates and that was with a blown head gasket

Thanks, but I would say these is still alot for me to learn. Basically 4 years ago when I bought the car I didn't even know how to change the oil. After about 2 years reading alot of DIYs and books i was confident in my ability to pull the car apart LOL.

The problem then was funds so for the next 2 years nothing really happened. Now I have to money. The hardest part as a novice is getting started once you get in there everything becomes alot more clear.

Yeh the M42 is fantastic it is very differant to the M20 but it comes into its own in the twistes where I love it.

So an update. It is a bit late as I moved house started a new job and had no internet.

Anyways here are some pic's for you all to enjoy.

So you can see the gasket between the timing case and block is stuffed and all swollen

Head back from the machine shop thanks DJ. Got some radius valve seats and back cut valves.

Cleaned block surface NICE! Thanks 3M

                  Head back on OH YEH

Timing back in and lower timing case cover back on

Upper cover back on and intake

                  My brother helping me out.

Everything back together, I also put the COP kit in some mustang injectors and VW lifters

Over all this was a fun task, this was my first HG replacement and learnt allot. I do have a small oil leak which I am not sure if it is from the timing case cover or the crank shaft seal but only minor so I will get around to it some time. I also think I need 22# injectors as the engine runs a bit hot and seems to run lean at high rpm.

Here are some pics after giving her a wash, and new tires as I got a puncture in one, so I decided to replace all over them as non of them were the right load rating. So for you all that know tires I got my self some SWEET Dunlop Z1 Star Spec in 205/55/16 as that was the only size with the load rating that I needed. These are crazy tires so much grip, there is actually more grip then I am comfortable with on stock suspension. On saying that I was behind a WRX today on some twists and was keeping up with which put a nice smile on my face

Anyways that is all hopefully I will get started on the suspension work soon, I found a local guy who wants to sell me his 3.64 LSD which is good as the 4.10 is not so good for highway driving, and gets me started on the handling.

Cheers guys and an extra thanks to DJ for the head worked out heaps well. Oh and if you want to look at any more pics check out my photobucket.

I also pulled these shocks out of the strut tube not sure if this would be useful to anyone.

So got to work on painting my struts soon to realise that 20 years of crap is not going to come off easy so I decided after the struts that I was not going to put any more effort into painting anything till next time when I have a bead blaster.

Some how a picture of our dog Siva got in here.

So by this time things are going together and I soon have the front back together.

The time came to take on the sub-frame bushes . After lots of reading and trying a few things I kind of developed my own style of removal. Basically I removed the center part of the bush with the alloy slot, then got the hack saw cut through as far as I could with out touching the sub-frame. After this I grabbed a big screw driver and hammer, and proceeded to bash the shit out of the little edge of the bush that sticks out around the sub frame. Took about 40 min all up. Massimo 2 Sub frame bushes 0

New 12mm offset bushes in from AKG

Well that is where I am at so far waiting on a couple of things to be delivered to finish off. Due to those recent QUANTAS strikes and BS it has been 3 weeks and still nothing. Anyways I would also like to thank the people who helped me from Blunttech, Ground Control and AKG.

Hopefully ill have a new update soon.

Oh and show some support few other stickers to go on still.

                          Cheers guys.
