THE 2002 Turbo build thread

    It's on the road! now Im just gonna try to tie up lose ends and make sure the car is safely driveable.

    Anyway.

    So I have been doing some tuning of the car. And I was wondering if anyone had any Advice regarding to AFR bins or what ratios work better for accell or TPS enrichment etc etc. I understand how to make the car pretty driveable and understand the concepts of how it works. But I am still Learning as well.

    This goes for Spark as well. I have a pretty good baseline spark map, and I think I am just going to retro fit the Stock 2002 Spark map onto it and drive it from there. However, I understand you are supposed to compensate for some of the + or - of the trigger angle. I seem to kind of be confusing myself ; When using the timing light today I Was using the Crank pulley notches as a reference. I had the timing light for one of the notches at 17 deg advanced, which is exactly what the computer said it was firing at. however there is another tiny notch only a few degrees counter clock wise to the one I was using as reference. at that notch the timing was 22 degrees while the computer was saying 17 deg. I was wondering for the settings int he megasquirt do I put any number for the Trigger Angle or trigger angle addition?


    also any tips for tuning?

              Still breaking in the engine, and putting together loose ends, such as cooling issues, oil cooler etc.

                what size intercooler are you running? Did you have to cut out any of the inner structure to make it fit?

                I just quickly looked through your thread but didn't see any pictures showing the intercooler up close... I am planning a turbo m42 build into a 76 2002 and still up in the air the IC to use. I used a short but long one before in a 2002 but I never liked how it fit, pain to get in and out.

                    OKAy Summer Is here and I just compiled a list and am now gonna post up some pictures to document what is going on.

                    First off here is how she sits

                    As you can see there is that oil cooler chillin (pun intended.) I plan to move it In between here, and down a little.





                    Anyways....

                    So I have a couple things left to Do:

                    my external wastegate port had a faulty weld, so I will be taking it to an exhaust shop to get fixed



                    The thing is, My turbo sits a little far forward, not to mention it is oversized...



                    I just bought a 666 Manifold, which should allow the even larger holset to fit in there more snug, and away from the radiator, IF someone had a smaller turbo or a different m10 engine they could totally use this manifold, and have it externally gated (Shameless Plug trying to sell this manifold). Then I could run the stock manual Fan , or fit one of 3 electrical fans I have yet to install.

                    1 12" and 2 9" ones that I can play with, thus I might want to fabricate a new radiator support as well so I can make an airbox for the holset turbo. fun fun.

                    If anyone wants to help out, I could use facilites/fabrication expertise... but have my own tools :).

                      I did Also do some Engine Fuel line tucking to start... This was merely a mock up. I plan to find some 90 Deg Fittings to make it look straight, and also a bracket would be pretty cool as well to clean it all up... So far my focus is to get it looking nice while the parts come.

                      So To start this summer I did some cleaning of the 2002 build, got the Euro turn Signal lenses ready to go in. I will do some searching to find out what bulbs I should find, or what works best.. etc.

                            yo dont have to spend 300 on an oil cooler. Check out pegasus racing or something along those lines, there are lots available

                                The 2002 oil filter housing from the Stock tii has an oil feed line, That being said, on a stock 2002 it can be drilled and tapped.
