Dude, I believe what he means by this is the seats are designed to have a cage and a back brace to support them, some of these seats are designed for racing others are desigend for street cars, if it is a race seat in order for it to be installed properly you need a back brace conected to a cage.Brian JacobsComment

not what i mean ...
the construction of the seat is not a a "fiberglass shell". search google and you will find the same.the sparco sprint is a tube steal frame seat.
in this link you will see pics of the bottom of a sparco sprint 5.
as you can see its not a "fiberglass shell"...
my point is for someone who will be on a race track, this is not a recomended seat to be used.:borg:Comment

I believe the Sprint 5 is SFI rated and perfectly fine for racing. I dont use Sparco seats and am not an expert in them, but they should be fine, just get a cage!Brian JacobsComment

Yeah that is why it is sold under the competition series of seats, entry level. I'm calling the idiot card on you.not what i mean ...

You should get a cage if you are going to use more than a 3 point seatbelt on the street or on a track.
As for buying cage parts, you might be able to make the tubing yourself and weld it in. You can look up tubing requirements for various style cages, rally/lemons/etc.

As far as Im concerned the seat is comfortable and holds me well. I would definitely trust this over some no name race seat. Ill most likely actually switch to something more adjustable in the future though.Yeah that is why it is sold under the competition series of seats, entry level. I'm calling the idiot card on you.

some misinformation in this thread. firstly as brian points out, sparco sprints are fia rated for competition so perfectly fine. myself i prefer the sparco evo seats or even better a seat with head protection. secondly, you do not need a cage to have shells, you do need harnesses and you do need a proper rollbar with a harness bar (not a stand alone harness bar). they operate as a system, don't have one without the other. daily driving a caged car is probably more dangerous.Comment

and dont think that if you wrap the bars in rollcage foam it will protect your face enough. that foam is also meant to be used in conjunction with a helmet.
and i wanted to reiterate that r-comps will not help you drive better on a track. you might be faster, but they will cover up a lot of mistakes. mistakes that you will keep making. its better to learn to drive on a decent all-season. and then when you are quite experienced (as kishg said, 30+ track days) you can make that jump.AWD > RWDComment
