I fucking LOVE this thread. Honestly this thread right here is half my current motivation to do well in college.
Thanks for the accolades... I'll see if I can continue to motivate your collegiate career, just don't tell your parents, Lol! They probably won't like the idea of half your college motivation being some guy on the internet building a car in Pennsylvania... unless your dad is Chip Foose, in which case I think he'd be okay with it, haha...
So, I hung some panels on the car to get the gaps set and see what I had. Before I left tonight, I gave the hood and the passenger door a quick hit with the DA to clean them up and look at them subjectively... the hood I'm on the fence about, the passenger door is the one from this shell and I am keeping it. It's straight, no rust and as you'll see in the pics, it just sits nice. So, I need the drivers door and then I can get on with the prep for primer. I'm pretty satisfied with the gaps and panel fitment, considering the amount of surgery I did to this poor car, so I'm happy...
Hard to argue with those gaps in the last picture... If I can get a clean door for the drivers side, I'm good to go...:)
I haven't updated in a while... I wanted to wait until I had the panels all hung, the gaps set and a coat of primer on it and it all blocked out. I still have to go pick up the new door for the driver's side and then fill the molding strip on it, but the passenger door is done and on the car. I'll try to get a pic of it tomorrow... I've been working on it, just not as much lately. Kinda bummed, but there's no way I'll make my August deadline, so I've slowed my pace down. Too much left to do and not enough time left to get it done, so rather than rush and half-ass it, it'll get done when it gets done... hopefully before the fall, since I'd like to drive it this year, but we'll see...
Where are you at in south central PA? I'd love to see this in person especially since I do body work for a living. Thought about doing this myself. Keep up the good work!!!

Main Street in Hummelstown, right around the corner from Posie's... Since you're a body guy, I don't know if I can let you see it, though, since I'm no body guy, Lol! Just kidding... You could come up anytime...

Haha looks like you're doing everything good. I didn't read word for word or look at every page and i am sorry if someone already asked these questions but... What color are you spraying it? Have a "sprayer" or are you painting it? Do you have booth do it in?
I've been waiting for the next part for a while now. Please document what ever you do for the V8 please.
I know I questioned your "roll cage" in the beginning for what you were trying to achieve, but i'm impressed with how it turned out. You do good work!
I'll document the motor stuff, don't worry... and don't sweat the questioning of the cage... I knew where I was going and could see the end result before I started and it worked out okay, so I'm happy... Thanks for the compliment and keep watching!

Alpineweiss III is the color... I have a painter and a backup painter, just in case, Lol! I'm a wrencher, so no booth, but I'd spray it if I knew I could get good results, without a booth. I've done plenty of "minor" repair work for customers over the years, so I'm not afraid to do the paint work, but without a booth, I'm pretty much sunk... anyway, we'll see what happens once I get the bodywork wrapped up...

Nice! I painted my car Aplineweiss III. So glad I did and I'm sure you will be happy with that color choice.
