Back on topic I've really wanted to do a stroker vert for awhile now... all the better to experience the built M20 sound with no roof (needs moar cammed idle). Make it happen!paint sucksComment

Ireland has a decent price on the crank scraper.
And YES, replace the rings, sheesh.Comment

I saw a posting in one of the stroker builds with a site about selling mostly scrapers. I cannot find it...~ Puch Cafe. ~ Do business? feedback ~ Check out my leather company ~

Where? ;)
No point in building up the bottom end if you're not going to help the head move more air amirite? All Schricks are the same price, so if he's not keeping the stock cam there's no reason not to go 284 (just make sure you've got enough valve relief).paint sucksComment

New question on the crank scrapers.
I looked at http://crank-scrapers.com/bmw.html they are double the price of IE
http://store.nexternal.com/ireland/o...-m20-p615.aspx
I am going to take the grinder to the crank when it gets in and knife edge it and then have it balanced. So I was thinking maybe crank-scrapers is better to go with since they offer knife blade ones.
To be honest the "crank-scrapers" one looks over all better and more time into it. The IE is just a stamped blah...
Also would anyone happen to have a picture of their knife edged weights? I would like a general idea of where to stop. I googled it and found lots of different ways. I was thinking the ax design is best. And I get the idea of why you do it.
What is the best way at holding it down while grinding?
Last question for the night:
Should I pick up this:
Or Schrick 284 cams?
What one would give better over all performance. I am leaning at the Miller because a tune does wonders =)
As of now i have spent 611.00. Still have to get the block honed and cleaned for the work a head. I was also thinking of having some porting done. Or should I save that for another day?
Let's say I get all this shit what is the HP numbers going to be around?
everything listed so far with Schrick 284 or 288 cams, Miller stroker tune and a port/polish.
My brother said he has 2,500 that he wants to dump into the car. My Uncle is painting so the is cost of paint and everything else is bought over all. So it leaves us in a good spot to pick up both cams and tuning. I just don't want him to spend 1k+ on that and only gain a little bit more.
In the 2.8 stroker PDF DL best of the day was 199hp 198trq or something like that. I am not sure on what they had for cams. But that is really good #s for a tune. But I don't know what this will be making without the tune...so anyone with this setup that can chime in would help me figure this out.
Thanks guys, good night.Last edited by F34R; 03-22-2011, 12:32 AM.~ Puch Cafe. ~ Do business? feedback ~ Check out my leather company ~
