Here is the videos I promised. I have never been able to hold a camera super still

The white smoke you see is not from a blown headgasket. My DME reset and I have m50 injectors, so it was running rich because it forgot the settings. Additionally it was about 34 degrees outside.

    My engine is ...

I drove it sort of hard, I would bump shift it every other day, but I believe it is just that it has had a hard life and the gas in the oil didn't help

lol 5toes you sound kinda fabulous!

        :D

the loud "COUCHOCOUCHOCHJCOCOCHOCH" noise sounds like pistons interfering with valves to me, but i am not expert and it doesn't seem to have a solid pattern.

Yeah I dont even know. Ill figure it out when I pull the engine. The timing belt and tensioner arent even a year old, and John Parker put them on for me, so I trust his work wholeheartedly. Hope the head is fine, cause I plan to sell it!

for some reason i think maybe one of your valve springs could have collapsed and it might be an unsprung valve floating and bouncing off of the piston...... but i have never heard of anything like that happening hahaha.
only one sure way to figure out Andrew, and you know what that is.

Indeed I do. Ill pull the head once the motor is out and do some investigating

                  Making some progress...

                  Got car in the air
Deleted the AC (I will weigh it all for reference later)
                  Drained oil and coolant
Disconnected throttle, heater core, overflow tank, all that kind of stuff
And some more I cant recall

                  Some pics:

Will post more in a bit, going out to drain the atf right meow

Got the downpipes unbolted and tranny drained. Called it a night.

Things left to do simply include:

                    Remove driveshaft
                    Drain power steering
                    Undo a few more connectors
                    Undo engine ground strap

                      Sorry I couldn't help today.

BTW - the first thing to do, is remove the hood. It will make that job much easier. Kinda the first thing you want to do.

Put a blanket on the roof, then the hood on top of that.

Thanks George. I havn't had a reason to pull the hood off yet, but I will do that when the time comes.

Blanket and roof idea is excellent

Clutch fan, radiator, belts - all that stuff is much easier with the hood off.

I didn't have any trouble, but yeah

Hahaha I actually pulled the radiator before doing the fan clutch! Just pulled the fan shroud bac over the fan and slid it out. More room for the clutch (mine came off nice and easy too!)
