Early non air bag cars have a spacer (P/N 32311120260) that compensates for the room that the air bag steering wheels have. If you put a non-airbag steering wheel on an air bag car you will need to place the spacer on the steering shaft before you put on the steering wheel. Some folks use washers to make up for the spacer some buy the spacer which is not that expensive (under $10).Depending on which steering wheel and hub you use you may need an extra washer to make keep the steering wheel from rubbing on the plastic steering column surround. Another issue is that if you space the steering wheel out too much your turn signal will not automatically return to the neutral position. I also swapped out the turn signal stalk from an early model car because the bend on the early models give you more room between the steering wheel and the turn signal stalk. There are lots of threads on this here on R3V that will give you detailed installation instructions. Hope this help.

Looking good. I've been lagging even more than you on my m-tech vert restoration, but when you're ready to get your upholstery done, let me know. Maybe we can get a two-for-one discount

Hi Robert, It's funny how long it takes to get things done on our cars when we have so many project going on at the same time. I took the Mtech down to Jim's Upholstery in San Diego and got a quote of $1275 to redo the door cards in vinyl and seats in new leather using the Mtech fabric, that we have, in the appropriate places. I also had them give me a quote of $1200 to redo the hard top inside and out. Ouch! They do exceptional work and that is where I will end up taking the car once I have saved up the cash. My plan is to take all the parts down in my pickup so they don't have the car just sitting in the parking lot while they are doing the work. I can fit both of our parts in one truck load and see if they will give us a break on the cost. If you are still interested we can talk before I go down there in a couple of months.
Cheers,
