mine has always needed work and mostly always ran.
When the guibo took a shit, it was out for the count for like a month and a half.
I tried to deny it needed a lot of work and I also have another vehicle.
So I hated working on it. I hate working on cars. I know it for certain too cause I work on cars a lot and I always hate it. I actually buy cars from people like you and then try and find a derelict to fix them or fix them myself and sell them.
but if it sat there for 6 months I would call the junkyard. pull out the fenders and the headlights the seats and call it good.
theres no point in trying to pretend youre something you are not. Itd be cool to be a car fixer but thats not you son. No offense.Comment

You let a Guibo Put you out for a month? That six bolts numnuts I blew a head bolt and have spent a good amount of time doing just about everything you can imagine related to my valve train. And I bet I'm a he'll of a lot more busy with work/school then you are through your normal work week.
Stop trying to put me down in my thread, yeah I took a long time to do something that most do in a few weeks but it doesn't mean I'm going to let random central valley hooligans try to convince me my car belongs parted out or in a junkyard.
So get on with ye self troll. Take your dildo shift knob elsewhere.Comment

And if 6 bolts a month is the going rate then I've been out for a year and a half then that should put me at 106 nuts bolts or screws at your average. I can tell you I've turned many more than that.Comment

ha humboldt is like 250 miles north of you on the coast.
Im not trolling you man its just you dont need any sort of car project.
car projects are what you do while you are doing regular life. Not while you are on vacation.
Im just encouraging you to focus on running cars in the future lets say.
I owned i think 7 cars this year and I couldnt tell you how much work on them I did or had done. but definitely 10 times the amount you had to get done as far as on cars.
It doesnt matter compairing me to you, the difference is just im functional. We both hate working on cars.
Dont be like me, be like you.
No more year long projects for life. Focus on school and whatever, jobs hopefully.
Anyone can do this stuff. But if you hate it youll do everything else first and never have time for it. I have a feeling youre never going to have time to fix your cars for a long time.Last edited by stamar; 08-29-2012, 03:24 AM.Comment

Pulling the pan is a bitch, and it takes awhile. I changed my pan gasket before I dropped my motor :( The task took a full day worth of work, and that was with pants on, so maybe 3 days with out.... :giggle:
If you have your drive shaft out its easy to unbolt your trans mounts, and motor mounts, then jack up the motor by the A/C bracket. I was doing an e36 rack swap too, so I took my rack out, but you can just take out the bolts and let it droop. (maybe you can do it with the rack in?) With doing that, you just barely have enough room to get to the oil pump bolts. After you take those out then you can take the pan out. Putting it back in is probably the hardest part, getting the pump and shaft back in with out wrecking your gasket is a remarkable feat. Mine leaks still, and I really wish that I would have replaced it while the motor was out. Also if you change your mind and decide to do it after all, don't buy a cork gasket! They fucking suck!Comment
