I would think cutting out the lower valance areas on the metal valance near the a/c & oil cooler vents would also assist with less restrictions for the incoming air to get to the intercooler, yes?

you have to drill holes and it has built in studs.technically no going back since the OEM valance is full of holes now.
it would help but I dont want to cut the alpina up.

Looks good, If you turned your round holes into ovals in the bumper you could increase the open space 100+%.
Also, cutting away the bottom edge of the bumper in front of the intercooler will let more air sneak in as well. If you only cut the bottom of the bumper (parallel to the ground) and stop the cut just before the radius that turns up towards the front face on the bumper, the bumper will still look stock from the front. I hope i explained that clearly....Comment

let me try to assist you. Basically cut a piece under the plastic bumper in front of the intercooler, but a stealth cut so you cant tell there's a hole when looking at it straight on.Looks good, If you turned your round holes into ovals in the bumper you could increase the open space 100+%.
