    I would think cutting out the lower valance areas on the metal valance near the a/c & oil cooler vents would also assist with less restrictions for the incoming air to get to the intercooler, yes?

      you have to drill holes and it has built in studs.technically no going back since the OEM valance is full of holes now.

      it would help but I dont want to cut the alpina up.

                                let me try to assist you. Basically cut a piece under the plastic bumper in front of the intercooler, but a stealth cut so you cant tell there's a hole when looking at it straight on.
