Holy crap, what parts suppliers are you buying stuff from that won't replace bad parts out of the box?

Don't know who you guys have down in Florida, but worldpac is where we used to get all of our euro (and some japanese) stuff. Never had any issues with them, if anything went bad they'd have their runners bring us a new part and pick up the old one.

Parts you already installed? They have no issues with returns.

Yes, WP is one of the suppliers, along with IMC, they are both a few blocks from the shop.

hopefully that deal ends up with them replacing the disc and tickling your balls; otherwise toss them under the bus like a 80's action flick

Good to hear you found the problem! I would get my money back and put it towards a higher quality clutch.

Ok so I've emailed 5 or 6 venders but I'll post here as I'm conflicted if I even want to put the car back together or just save money and work on it later in winter.

The only venders to respond to me are Todd@ TCD and SPEC, both have been responding very quick but I'm a bit conflicted.

I offered to TCD that I would use/offer there Clutchmasters kit clutch for my customers if there was a chance on even a small discount but he didnt seem to care. I currently use Spec stage 3's for all my customers who want clutches. I've sold over 10kits to date so I thought maybe a small discount for me using his clutches would be reasonable.
The clutch master kit is close to $700 after shipping.

Spec has been nice looked over all photo's I've sent them and have confirmed the wear pattern is that of a bent disk and it wasn't bent from removing the trans. this is good to know as I thought maybe I had other problems and the disk only bent upon removal.
They have offered me a replacement disk for around $250shipped.

I really don't have more money to throw at this car as I kinda went all out for making sure I'd never need to pull this motor again.I have over $4000 into this swap and its not even close to a point where I'd consider it even auto-x worthy.

what would you guys do if these were your options?

I still to this day can not see how me installing the transmission which went so smooth could bend a disk. The motor was sitting in a tire and all I did was slide the trans on, there is no way a clutch disk is so weak that me sliding a trans on could bend it. I've done most of my other clutches with the engine in the car and the trans has hung there as I wiggled it around to get everything to line up and even in those situations the clutch functioned perfect.

Any r3v venders want to sell me a clutch?

I would lean on Spec a little more but in the end I would pay the $250 for the new disc and put it back together. I hate these set backs and I had a similar issue (as you know) with my head gasket. The issue was due to improper installation at the machine shop, that refused to listen to advise from experienced M30 builders. I was pissed and fumed for a day or two but in the end I want my car on the road. I could have just spent the $250 for the new head gasket but I went full re-re and spent more than I should. Don't let this set back get you bummed. Make a plan and see it through. If waiting for the winter will yield you a better result do that. But if you will get the same result by spending a couple of hundred now and driving your car for the rest of the summer and fall, well do that!

                        ok other question then

The spec stage 3+ and stage 5 disk's are interchangeable, I can likely get either for the same price.

The 3+ is sprung and has better drivability and holds 525torque

the stage 5 holds 630 but is pretty noisy and and I'll likley not make over 600ftlbs of torque ever.

both of these clutches hold more than the clutchmasters which todd was saying will hold 500torque but he wouldnt give a model number or anything.

I have the stage 3+ and the pedal feel is great, much like stock. But the engagement is very sensitive. It is not as grabby as an unsprung clutch but I definitely had to relearn how to drive a manual transmission. It is really easy to stall out with the clutch.

According to the last dyno visit I had my stage 3+ is holding well over 525ft-lb (551 at the crank) without slipping. My next visit will show if the clutch can handle more with the bigger cam.

ok, how but boost were you at to make 551 at the crank?

I plan on running around 18-19

16psi/211kpa but keep in mind that was the same pull that sent me home with a blown headgasket. I plan on keeping my boost at 14psi (Otis advises not going over 14) until I get some meth in my life, some good old Heisenberg injection. With the new cam I should still post better numbers even with lower boost.

yeah, I'll just grab another stage 5 disk.

I like boost and I already have meth, will actually be adding another meth injector as I'm over 60% duty cylce on my 80lb injectors at near 16psi.
