So after a couple canyon runs, my IAT temp got to around 180 degrees, car started pulling timing and running like poo. My trumpets were extremely hot to touch

Hottest temp my turbo setup IAT EVER made it to was around 120degrees, so designing a boostable aluminum plenum, should be very easy as the RHD setup is multiple pieces and very easy to modify and bolt things onto.

stay tuned will be somewhat based off of this.

What about a phenolic spacer too?

Open trumpets inside a closed engine bay is never a good idea. Plenum/CAI is where it's at.

i started with a phenolic spacer until i realized they wont do anything except make the throttle bodies and trumpets run a bit colder which wont change anything. its the fact that the air being ingested by the engine is from under the hood (underhood temps are easily 60-70C probably higher with uncoated headers and low speed where little airflow is present. high IAT and high performance engines dont mix, risk of knock goes up drastically. A phenolic spacer usually helps a carb setup as it will lower the heat going into the fuel. the solution is to draw cooler air from else where and try and insulate it. An airbox solution is so much better to drive its not even funny, even moreso in summer.

Come on just put the trumpets through the hood. Do it.

                        That M12/M13 though.

You thinking of just making an airbox and having it pull air from the valance/behind headlight instead now?
