Still not much going on here..
I got around to welding that "scavenging tank box" on to the car..

Trunk space has become a fair bit smaller..

Black line marks the area I'll have to cut off to make room for the muffler.:loco:
I remember putting a fair amount of work to repairing that floor :D

Combustion chamber/squish area will look something like this once the engine is bored 1mm oversize:

Tested the collector with gasoline. Filled it up & stared at overflow pipe to see if liquid surface goes down.

        It got a "tested OK"-sticker :D

This one has just seen a lot of driving.

I was going to try it at our club track day, but once I got to Ahvenisto racing circuit I realised it had blown it's alternator. I limped back home, luckily I have a collection of M10 alternators & stuff stashed away. :D
I installed a 14,5mm rear anti roll bar on it. It effects handling less than I remembered it should.. So I'll probably have a 16 or 18mm adjustable rear ARB made for the "superlite" project. Oversteer never hurt no one.

I bought a real cheap E34 for spares.. Mainly because it had this:

I'll take that LSD unit and mate it to that 3,46 sitting in the background. I don't think it even needs any fiddling. It seems to have really good preload/tension/friction whatever. Or what's the correct term to describe diff properties.. And ofcourse, NA M10 won't produce enough power to trouble a 188 type diff :D

M3 windscreen, testing for fitment. With a bit of beating of the frame & welding it should fit OK

The piece that went to right hand side footwell, CLICK!

              I bought a few parts..
              E30 head that has this:

It's supposed to be 292. The cam seemed to be in good shape. I'll take measurements later to confirm what it is.

-With the head came this, a manifold modded for bigger throttle body, and some 350cc/min injectors.

Checked to see if the TII pistons clear the valves at TDC. That cam has a bit over 2mm TDC lift. Enough for a street car?

Those pistons have very thick crowns so making valve pockets isn't a problem even with a hotter cam or if I decide to have the head machined a millimeter or two :) .

We can all forget about that cam (above). It's bearing surfaces were GONE as well as those on the head. I can however use the double valve springs and big injectors from that purchase.

I ordered a 300 deg / 10,5 mm lift cam from Dbilas. <- goes to that "superlite"

Then I bought a set of OEM mudflaps for the black 316. Rear ones are "no longer available" but local dealer managed to find a pair for me :).

Finally got the Dbilas cam shaft.

Fits the original holes of the head. Any more lift and the cams couldn't go through STD size bearing holes. Not with standard base circle anyway.

Support for the steering column mounting. I'll have to make mounting points for it.

I bought a digital angle gauge. With that I can check and set alignment values for the rear axle when I build adjustments to it. Wheel alignment comes afterwards of course, but the "starting point" or "zero values" need to be checked.

Nothing's really happened. I bought one more engine block (cast 1967) and one big valve head. Can't have too many of those in stock.

3 small holes in the floor. Well, that escalated quickly..

I "weighed" about 30 stock valve springs and compared them to a few Schrick double springs. And now the R&D-team is very confused.

I measured the pistons against the head once more. With 0,4mm shaved head & 0,8 piston-head clearance the valves can have 3,6/3,3mm TDC lift. Which means I'll have to make valve pockets. 2,6/2,6mm nominal TDC lift on the cam, plus block & head both have to be shaved.

Oh boy, I love the black car! Keep it away from the ice-racing tracks though. Soo clean!

You Finns, always coming up with interesting things to do to cars!

To think, in the US the red car would be scrapped by 99.5% of owners.

Love the thread so far, going to have the car weighed at some point?
