Made a windscreen washer system.. I'm going to make the hood detachable so I can't run hoses & spray jets there.. Whole system weighs 0,5kg everything incluced.
-That bent pipe is a support that goes from A-pillar through firewall corner to the shock tower bottom.
..another crappy pic of the support..
Wheel with max camber, fully compressed. I needed to see what the "worst case scenario" is so the support pipes don't interfere with the tires.
Completely unrelated, building camber & toe adjustments for friend's E30

Before sandblasting parts and welding..
make sure everything's level and re-check while working..
Digital angle gauge comes in handy..

Last hole I'm cutting to the shell:
-Done
Except for the driver's side rocker panel I'll be replacing:

Last of sandblasting stuff, done! I wipe blasted spots with this:
-which is a phosphoric acid. It's protects bare metal from rust til I paint it, and the acid reacts with small rust residue that remains in metal pores. Just before primer I wire brush it off.
Inside of rocker panel requires a few quick fixes:
No.... I am your father!
Saving huge amounts of weight by replacing hand brake pipes with aluminium items :)

Couple of crappy pics, sandblasted places under primer paint..
..aand I bought a set of Powerflex black rear subframe bushes. Should be stiff enough for a road car, together with an E36 diff cover and mountings.
..more random pics:
Small accident that we had taking the shell out for sandblasting.. Requires some pulling, measuring and beating:
You make do with what tools you have :).
Testing if our tools are up to making flares to 8mm fuel pipes. No fancy AN-connectors here:
Above mentioned bushes.. They do feel stiff as hell.
New side bearings for differential:

I got around to doing a couple of small things on my own car..
Putting on the driver side rocker panel. Only a few welds here and there, rest of it done with panel adhesive.
We had this small mishap a while ago, dropped the chassis of the rotisserie, bending the front frame.
Tack a piece there and start pulling..
As a result of dropping it, front chassis rails (or what are they called?) we're bent inwards by 6mm?
Work in progress.
Bit more fixing and it'll be agood as new..

Some sort of spacer needed here. Center hole of the strut towers is SMALL, no room to move the adjustments about. Or some other solution? I'm open to suggestions. Cutting the strut tower is my last option, I'd rather not do that. It may lose some stiffness if cut the center hole bigger and lose that "lip".
Other than that, not much happening. Car will be easier to work on once we get it rolling. I do have a scissor lift at the garage :D
To that end, I ordered a pair of rear shocks, short Koni Sports.
I read somewhere that E46 rear mounts are supposed to be stiffer/stronger than E30 OEM ones, so..
Seem to fit OK

Almost exactly 6 years after I started on it, the project stands on it's wheels again :)
I hope the rest of it will be done in less time..
Ordered a fuel tank. Have to get one now, can't fabricate tank mounting points without one.Last edited by petrolhead; 01-03-2015, 04:27 AM.Comment

You're making me blush.
This sure makes life easier:
Test fitting a few parts & making mountings for them: CLICK!
Started work on the windscreen frame. When it's all welded, I'll beat it to the right shape (curvature in corners) and seal the seam with panel bonding adhesive.
