You're deleting your POWER STEERING iirc so if that belt is good for that setup, slap on your idler and you should be alright. The smooth side of the belt must turn the idler.
I was thinking about running it with no idler

                    Any safety wire pros?

                    Is this acceptable?
I've done it like 80 times. I can't seem to get rid of all the slack

Take off the harmonic balancer, makes dropping the engine in a lot easier :P

Something always has to go wrong.
one of the oil pan bolts stripped.
Its one of the front timing cover ones. I think it happened cause I used a drill and went too much and its aluminum

                          what are my options?

Is the oil pump nut reverse threads?

Tap the hole with a size bigger if it's very stripped and get a bolt to fit

                              Yeah its reverse thread.

My plan is to try to tap it

Well I messed up again :(
I messed up the front timing cover and crank seal

Out of stupidity I put the bolts back in the harmonic balancer without compensating for the space of the missing A/C pulley
So the bolts were making contact with the cover and I cranked the engine by hand a few times and it tore it up quite badly :(
