You're deleting your POWER STEERING iirc so if that belt is good for that setup, slap on your idler and you should be alright. The smooth side of the belt must turn the idler.
I was thinking about running it with no idler

Yeah, I don't think its possible to run it under the idler pulley.

Maybe its best to run it without it then or i can get a belt that is a little bit longer and still use it

    Hey guys,

I ordered the 6pk1400 and it fits two ways.
It fits with the idler pulley like this, but I'm not sure if this is acceptable because the ribs are on the smooth surface of the idler pulley

or how lifeiskaos did it in this thread:

    What would be better?

    Thanks! I really appreciate it.
I need all the encouragement I can get.
Next free day I have the engine is hopefully going to at least be dropped in the car!

Finally, the last piece of the puzzle needed to drop the engine in has arrived.
A 20 hole fidanza flywheel friction plate replacement. I had to return a 18 hole one and wait for an exchange. This delayed me quite a bit
Here is the lightweight fidanza flywheel pictured with the f1 racing stage 2 e34 m5 clutch kit

Before I installed the oil pan gasket, I put some silicone on the joints both side of timing case cover and some on each corner close to the clutch/flywheel setup...
    I appreciate the info man!

    Valuable pictures in that thread

    It sure is a PITA!

So to run the e34 m50 pan I just remove the s52 windage tray and run the one that is integrated into the m50 pan?
Also, do you guys know if silicone is needed anywhere on the oil pan gasket? or is it good to go?
