        Thanks everyone!
        More pics coming up.

glucklich, I still hate you. I haven't done it yet but I shall soon. I'm thinking the entire right side was sitting in high water because the the brakes are dragging as well. Brand new pad worn to the metal but only on the front passenger and on one pad.

This only applies to automatics. Preciate the concern though.

No, the warning applies to manuals too. The concern is that while in neutral the gearsets aren't moving at the normal rotational speed so the transmission fluid doesn't get distributed fully to the far reaching ends of the tailshaft and bearing.

Recommendation is if you're towing it over 50 miles you need to disconnect the driveshaft.
Das ist nicht nur nicht richtig, es ist nicht einmal falsch!

I just consulted my '92 318ic owner's manual and I'm afraid you're misinformed. The restriction is for automatics only and the max. distance is 30 miles (which can be safely exceeded if you add an extra quart of ATF or remove the driveshaft).

So as the time goes by......

So the car came with a blown M42. After three hours and a tall Shiner, the problem was resolved.

I got the M42 pretty quiet. Had to swap the cams and the lifters. The lifters were like rock solid. Timing chain still makes noise even with new guides all over.

                    Check the pics.

This is what an M42 looks like when you slap all 4 cylinders with valves and leave it sitting with the head off.

Has a pretty new flywheel and new BMW clutch

                    Inteeria shots

Shampoo doesn't really work on 20yr old carpet

Everyone should get this stereo. It does everything and matches. I'll do a write up on using the factory amp as well

                    The old dirty bastard

                    Cleaning the shooters

                    Adapters

I also took the opportunity to zip in my new rear window.
Took all of 15 minutes. Blurry cell shot.

                    I like this car!

After a clay bar, compound, and buff/wax

Right now I still don't know if I'd like to keep the m42. I like the mileage but that's it.

In the works is a set of euro grilles, lights, is lip, spoiler, and tires for the shooters.

Thanks! Yea, an m50 wouldn't be too bad but if I were to swap a 6 in, it would be an m20. I'm looking into s5x territory now:pimp:

So far this car has had a m20 swap!
Fuggin right. Some how it's get's better mileage than the M42.

                            Also, I'm looking into brakes.
I wan't big ass brakes. Suggestions?

obd1 s52 FTW. and i would drop in some GC coilovers in there. 550f/650r.

awesome vert though. You're super lucky it has the plastic bumpers and valance on there.
