Today I just did a little hard top prep.

If any of you plan on tackling this job yourself, just know it takes hours and hours of prep.

      Filled the millions of pinholes

Looks like I'll need to lay another two-three coats of filler primer.

      Fuuuuuuuu

After much sanding and washing here's where I left it for today with a black guide coat for blocking.

With the cold weather it'll need a few days before I can sand and lay some base.

Excited to see how the top comes out, and I LOVE how stock the car looks.

              Thanks guys.

I wanted to go for a slammed stance look but after driving it in its stock form, I fell in love with the essence of the car. I started appreciating the simplicity of it. Rather than trying to alter and make it something wicked and rad, I decided I'll try to improve the stock aspects and appearance of it. Cept the v8 and 6speed hehe. But even that is BMW essence as well.

There should be a lot more coming soon. Including a pretty wicked hard top and some 225's

elaborate more on the hard top and the prep process of that.. because i will be painting my vert in the spring and the hard top will have to be what i purchase before the paint so as to get it ready.

                  I will say this,
Either have lots of money (or a good body man) or a lot of patience.

I used to work for Toyota when I was younger at the assembly plant in San Antonio. I handled the raw steel body panels form cutting, forming, shaping, and finally prep and paint. I know tons of body work tricks over the years and working for Toyota only enhanced it. This hardtop has put use of all my skills by an exuberant amount.

To date it's required 1/4lb of filler, 2 liters of primer, and days of sanding/blocking. It's nearly done but the top needs another round or two of blocking.

Here's where it stands today. Sorry forgot to get closeups.

Jesus my car needs a lip.

This is the base coat. Still not sure if it'll be body color or not yet so it will be wrapped in vinyl in the near future before it gets too cold.

I think I saw you today (11/17) heading east on George Bush Turnpike, you exit off to Wylie or something. Thing was loud!

That was more than likely me.

Straight pipes for now until I get my muffler/turbo set up figured out.
