it's not in the car, but there's no reason it won't work if I ever finish it.
Here's the cluster build:
Basically I just need to finish a bit of wiring, but I also need to have my swap done so the tach and coolant gages work.Last edited by nando; 02-28-2019, 11:44 AM.Leave a comment:

I did, he said he was too busy to take it on.
I have basically everything needed to mock it up and make it fit 100% (even a spare subframe & steering rack, although I don't think they are required), they're just odd, bulky, heavy parts to be sending out.Leave a comment:

Don't think it would cost that both ways using LTL commercial freight. Cost us $600 to ship two pallets, 3x3x3h ~400lb and a 6x3x3h ~600lb from Northern Indiana to SFL. Realistically, though, there are people closer - specially Cali. Maybe talk to Arc Asylum?Leave a comment:

No worries.
How about making the M60 run on MSS52? that's actually pretty easy to deal with. lol.Leave a comment:

Even bigger pain in the ass since it seems to have a proprietary flash eeprom AND a proprietary microcontroller. Tools exist to dump the EEPROM contents, but as far as I know, no one has dumped the flash stored inside the microcontrollerLeave a comment:

So what about the M5.2 DME? Easier than the ME7.2?

Yeah I really don't like the C167. I can't really figure out how to set the memory map, and little endian really messes with my head. Plus those Bosch DMEs are annoying with their 6 billion checksums scattered throughout.I haven't done anything with C167. I'd need some motivation.
MSV70/MSS70/MS45 are all in the same family (also MSS60 and MSS65 to some degree), with the same CPU and a lot of the same code - makes it easy to extend knowledge from one to the other. Unfortunately for me BMW no longer uses PPC cpus so I can't extend it to anything newer. :p
Guess I should eventually learn how to work with the TriCore DMEs.Leave a comment:

I don't really have the time/space/tools to do that. Plus, I know a little about weld prep - enough that I'd rather the guy who's doing the welding did the cutting and grinding.
how about I send you the transmission, transfercase, bed plate, oil pans, driveshaft, and differential to fab it up for me? it would only be about $500 in shipping. :pLeave a comment:
