Whoa. That really sucks. Is there cancer around the subframe mount?

Damn that sucks, Ive seen this happen a few times. Always worries me, with my car having 302k on it.

Id be really interested to see how they repair it.

Edit: did you not have that reinforcement plate/ear in place?

Did the bushing completely separate? or was it the entire mount that failed?

Heres the driverside that isnt busted

                  and the broken passenger side

and her she sits waiting for JMP Auto in Reseda to diagnose it. Honestly for now, Im pretty worried this might be the end of this car... Am I overreacting?

Wow, I've never heard of that happening! Looks like a really clean separation too - weird.

No, I don't think that should be the end of the car. Looks like it just needs to be put back in place, and welded in again. And of course, reinforcement on both sides might not be a bad idea.

Arent e46s notorious for that kind of rear subframe failure, but I believe in those cases the body panel is torn out due to metal fatigue. I think you lucked out when you think about how bad it could of been.

I'm glad you are ok! You are overreacting though, your car will be ready for the twisties in short order.

Bet it made you pucker pretty good.

Thanks everyone, I started looking around at other E30s to swap my stuff over too and got bummed. I have been through a lot with this car and really didnt want to deal with swapping stuff over.

For now, I think Im going to go full retard on the rear subframe; rear trailing arm bushings, subframe bushings, considering the camber adjusters, and probably the diff mount too. I dont want to mess with the rear subframe anymore...

edit: Ive been watching this and think its time to pull the trigger and buy him out. I dont think it will be too stiff. Ive been very happy with both Ireland and AKG stuff and have both of their parts throughout my car.
