This may sound like a daft question, but have you disconnected the entire exhaust? I tried for hours to remove my headers before realising that if you lever the downpipe to the left and then remove it, they simply pop off.

As far as I could, yes. See pictures. Everything is welded together in those pictures.

Can you just leave the headers attached to the head and pull them out together?

I don't have enough clearance on the passenger side to be able to loosen or remove the nut on the engine mount.

Well it's been an uneventful 4 months since my last update. Between traveling for work and being sick off and on for the last few months I was not very motivated to get things done. That's finally changed!

I got the head pulled today, it's definitely time for a rebuild. Here are a few pics:

Tomorrow I will remove the cams and send it off to a machine shop to spruce it up. I have a few more things I need to remove from the engine and then it will be ready to send to the body shop. Not sure how long that's going to take!!!

More updates as they happen. Thanks for looking!

So glad to see this thing still getting love. Keep it up, the reward is so much sweeter when you do things right rather than cutting corners

I'm working on finding a body shop today. That's not my forte and I want the body and paint work to be done right. All the rust will be removed and replace/repaired.

I love this car. Wish I would have bought it when it was for sale. Glad you've made a fun toy out of it and are saving a Henna car.

Thanks for the positive comments guys! Unfortunately the last 6 months have not been productive at all. I had some things come up that really sidetracked me. Right now I'm finishing up getting one of my rental properties ready to sell. Once that is sold the car goes off to the body shop and things really get moving. I would like to be done by MFest but selling the house will impact that if it (the house) sits too long.
I'm glad you guys keep bringing up this thread. Nothing like a little peer pressure to get things back on track!
And since the question was asked, I will be taking lots of pictures as the car comes back together!

If something happens and you want to sell let me know! I missed two henna cars recently and been bummed.
