The diesel fuel in The United States of America is different than over-seas. What?

VW AHU- Kennedy makes an adapter plate. For a few hundred dollars. That mates to a Toyota 2wd truck transmission!

om602 Mercedes 2.5l turbo mated to a 5 speed. 38ish MPG Supposedly very reliable.I'm leaning toward this mess, right now. I can have a star on my hood.

524td m21 BMW - Timing belt. Pretty much fills up an e28 engine bay. 45 MPGish It's BMW though. Swap parts are available...in Germany!Someone stationed over-seas who wants a free wagon for shipping? Coming home soonish? PM me.http://www.ooyyo.net/detail/c=CD5A2F...98786987.html/

Modern VW TDI- Doesn't sound like a fun swap, to me. 50ish MPG Kennedy adapter, Toyota transmission. Think of trouble-shooting this piece. Sensors and shit everywhere.

[QUOTE]just drop in a big ol turbo cummins/QUOTE]No. Must be heavy.

Codydrp3- Your car would look better with a front bumper license plate filler.

Facts, thoughts, opinions welcome.Talk to me r3v. I think you can change your vote in the poll, if you would like to.

m21 are pretty crap-tacular motors - best, easily accessible motor is an ALH from a ~2001 jetta tdi.. I think some polish dudes used a volvo transmission to get one in an e30 (or maybe that was a 1.8t swap, nevertheless, same bellhousing)

On thing to point out though, ever wonder why nobody made a cabrio diesel until the particulate filters came out?? Because driving around surrounded by a cloud of soot in a cabrio isn't much fun :-/

just clean up your m20, put some rings, bearings and a new HG on it and call it good.. or go 24v

Its actually ACME that does it, not Kennedy. I fully support the TDI approach as that is a plan Ive had. Id rather bolt it to the Getrag transmission though.

                    True. http://acmeadapters.com/store_engine.php

Yeah. I hear you. Toyota transmission? Geez.
It seems like the VW is the only plentiful diesel around.
I'm still thinking MB 2.5 turbo. More simple.

Person from the advertisement says, "35 MPG city, 50 MPG highway". "Woop, woop!

Pretty cool. Thanks for the link. M21's are full of fail, in my book. Unless, they are updated. Cam, MLS head-gasket, 12mm head studs, re-weld cracked head, injection pump plate, etc. I don't want to "build" an engine.

M51 is bad-ass, but expensive, drive by wire (I think), and not plentiful for parts, manual transmission?, wires everywhere, etc.

It's on now! Time to pick an engine to spend that cash on.

                                Your poll sez Benz.
