Oh damn! I saw this build a couple months back, didn't realize this was the same car in the Bav500 group going down to Bimmerfest! I was in the white Mtech 2 Convertible.

Here it is back on commuter duty with some new front tires.

Thanks for the comments guys
I've got some video footage from my dashcam of some freeway pulls but it's pretty shaky. I'll get it up on YouTubeLast edited by pandaboo911; 07-07-2015, 12:00 PM.

Late model e30 tank
Early model transfer pump feeding Walbro 480 lph (p/n F90000267), both in tank.
1/2 inch aluminum fuel line
E85 specific high flow filter
Aem universal fpr
Obd2 fuel rail
Aem FPR can't regulate pressure below ~57 psiLast edited by pandaboo911; 10-08-2015, 01:04 PM.

Actually it's worse. The car is nose heavy now since its an s52, with PS, AC, a huge supercharger, water to air intercooler. The trunk is essentially empty apart from the Lukebox. So the fuel cell would have been better but it only fit 10 gallons which wouldn't get me far on e85
I wanted to swap in a 22 gallon ATL cell but the cost was super high. I looked on CL for a while but didnt find any in the right dimensions to fit my trunk. Nobody seems to have the shallow ones that I wanted because they are more prone to starvation. I wanted to keep as much trunk space as possible so I just went with the 16 gallon late model tank and called it good. It gets me around 250 miles which isn't bad.
Plus that plastic fuel cell basically turned my car into a ford pinto since its a bladderless cell and would explode on impactLast edited by pandaboo911; 07-08-2015, 11:43 PM.

Just received this after a month long wait. Every place is on backorder.
I ordered 2 just in case. This is my 4th belt. The last 3 failed due to belt slip, seized tensioner pulley, and improper pulley placement. Hopefully this time I can get it right. These puppies are 30 bucks a piece.

In case you're wondering, going to an 8-rib setup is not an option because I would not be able to run A/C

So it's been ages since I updated this thread.. I stopped taking pictures of my work b/c lazy.
I figured I'd post some stuff that I've been working on recently.
The car developed a bad misfire @ 3k rpm, which has turned into a bogging with anything above 10% throttle. The ECU threw a code 1215 for MAF sensor. It also threw 1222 for mixture and 1234 for speedometer sensor.
I got a used MAF off ebay and threw it in with no change.. At least I've got a spare now ^^
I suspect it's the fuel pump so I'm installing a second FP gauge inside the car so I can see FP while driving.
A few pics.. mounted in the kick panel because there's no space anywhere else
big ass hole saw :D

Vapor separator for safety.

Also installing a wideband so I can actually see what's going on and adjust the FP for best AFR. This is the most important gauge imo so it has to be easily visible. Also no space for this one so I had to get creative.

Yay I finally found the source of my problems. I swapped out my fuel pump carrier thinking it was leaking pressure. Had exactly the same problem after. The car easily held 50psi fuel pressure, but with any flow it would drop to 30-40. Just because you have 50psi at the rail doesn't mean your pump is good!
Interestingly I found a video of someone with the same fuel pump, and the same failure mode. The fuel shoots out between the plastic containing the electrical contacts. Probably epoxy or an o-ring that failed due to the e85, even though this pump is advertised as safe for e85 use.

Sooo turns out fuel pump wasn't the problem. The fuel that sprays out of the pump is actually the pressure relief valve preventing the pressure from going above 80psi, so I returned the new fuel pump
I noticed the orifice in my FPR was corroded and fuel pressure was dropping off quickly when the pump shut down. Thought I found the issue once again. The new orifice fixed the fuel pressure dropping off after shut down but not the drop under load
I then checked the wiring for the pump and confirmed it was getting about 13v while the engine was running. There seems to be a lack of fuel volume being pumped. With any sort of load the fuel pressure backs off to 20psi causing a very lean condition
At this point I'm fucking stumped. There must be a blockage or restriction in the fuel feed line or my fuel filter is just not flowing enough. It could also be the fuel pump sock but it looks clean to me
This problem has arisen after the car sat for 2 months and I have no explanation for it.

Small update.
Problem turned out to be a combination of fuel line blockage and an undersize diverter valve. The BPV I have is only designed for ~10psi and the intercooler has a 1/2" port. This can't bypass enough air at part throttle and compressor surge/boost spiking results.
I finally installed my mtech 1 spoiler

I also got my new plates :D :D :D
