Just got it smogged and it'll be registered by next week! I'm holding off on the pics since it's pretty dirty, and with the California Drought I don't really want to wash it.

Not sure.. Just make sure to heat it up evenly. I used the heat gun and the torch to progressively heat it up.

The sleeve will turn blue and then black. You can see the color change in the pictures. I dropped the sleeve on when the whole thing turned black.

Sorry for the late response. I've been out of the forum game for a while.

I have stainless lines all around, they are not e30 or e46, just generic SS lines.

Anyway some other news the car has been driving until recently. The car overheated on the highway briefly due to a faulty radiator. The engine is now pressurizing coolant and one cylinder is 15psi down on compression. I'll be doing a new headgasket and o-ringing the head in preparation for a vortech supercharger. The plans are to run 12-14psi and shoot for 350whp. I'm also considering swapping back to OBD2 due to the broad variety of tunes available.

                    Specs will looks like dis:
Stock compression Elring Headgasket + Oring
                    ARP 2000s
                    Vortech V1
                    6" Crank Pulley
                    White325is SC Bracket
                    42lb Injectors
                    RMS Aftercooler
                    TRM Tune

                    Supporting mods I've already installed:
Earl's Oil cooler / 180C Oil Thermostat / Rallyroad Oil Cooler Cap
                    AMW Oil Catch Can
                    AEM Meth/Water Injection

There will be updates! I promise.

How funny I should find this thread so late. Man, that's an impressive build. 3 years??? damn. At least post some updated pics of the car. BTW, thanks for helping me out with that Flywheel a few years back. Worked out great.

                            lets get right to it

                            valve cover off

                            mess under the intake

got the vanos off and fixed the god awful vanos rattle. No pics of that but there was a huge amount of play in the bearing.

                            sexy head off

looks like it ran a little rich. carbon cookies!

Hone marks still visible! That's a good sign right? haha

I believe this was the leaky cylinder.

                            close-up of the head

I'm not too good at identifying a failed headgasket.. Can anyone see evidence of a failure? Here is a pic of the headgasket.

Also I found some not so good stuff. A few journals on the cams are very badly scored. I can run my fingernails through the ridges. Anyone have any advice?

Replace the cam either new or used with matching caps and tray.

I think I'll just have the machine shop polish the journals as best they can. I believe this happened when I had ticking lifters, the engine was sitting for a couple years not running and some debris must have gotten into the oil passages.
