Well I haven't done jack on my car in several months. But I got bored (that's ridiculously sarcastic as I type) one day and decided to build a manifold for FLG on here.
Picked these flanges up from F34R and modified them to fit the sch10 SS i'm using. I'll slip it through, weld the inside, pot and polish to a pretty shine.
Playing around with some collector angles.
I'll start welding this week but this gives you a general idea. Frank is placing the WG on the turbine housing so no provisions will be on the manifold.
Attachment pieces for the ICE engineworks manifold kit.
I started playing with these because well.....They're so damn cool haha!
Super rough mock on the bench
Then I mocked it up inside the bay on the motor. The black collector is something I designed and 3D printed in a mech. class I took. came in handy for mock purposes. I'm pretty happy with the design, need to make some adjustments on the 2 middle runners.
I want it to be fairly easy to install, I'm trying to design around the super long studs but they are proving to be a giant PITA on the middle runners.
I also made this cool little tool. bolts right to my saw, cut elbows wherever I need too!
Here are some time lapse videos of how the kit goes together.
Thats about it, been doing a lot of small welding job to buy parts for the car, I'll get back to that eventually. May even start a new thread, as you can see I changed the title because it hasn't had any build progress in months.
Cheers!Last edited by IronFreak; 02-25-2015, 10:54 AM.sigpic

They're bad ass for sure, big investment. I'm actually going to trade out my large 4" radius for more 2" that I use on these. I had 1 piece left and with the tweaks that it needs I probably wont have enough. I'll probably model and build the front 3 runners, then the rear three.sigpic

I love it, being a visual person it really helps me grasp what the final design is in my head so I can make it a reality.
Welding is a great skill to learn. Welders build America man, I'm in the welding/steel business career wise and I love it. As long as people need buildings they'll need welders......I guess same goes for cars.sigpic

So here is a little update on the progress of the manifold.
I welded up the collector, it turned out ok as you can see but in the end I decided to make a new one after talking with a few people. (ignore the craters....)
I'm glad I did, our main concern is the runners merged at a pretty steep angle, the new design benefited me greatly after setting final turbo location for fitment purposes.
Location of the turbo
Still plenty of room behind it
The hot side splits the 3-4 exhaust ports. I like this because it puts the weight back a bit further in the bay than the majority of the manifolds out there.
Copied the flange location over and built a aluminum mount I could bolt onto my jig. This way the base jig is for m20 and I can use it for multiple purposes.
This is the start of the final mock up of the runners. going to tweak a few things, but you get the general idea.
I'll work on cleaning it up through the week and start cutting SS next weekend.sigpic
