thanks folks. It's been a long road - I've just checked back in the thread and this has been going since 2013.

luke - I've been doing house work and garage work as well, and a lot of "well what can I botch together from these 2x4s instead of waiting in line at the hardware store". It's a fun escape from existential dread.

simon - working on it :)

            not much to write about

            current status:

            changes since last time is
            - put Konis in instead of Bilsteins, cause fuck Bilsteins
            - installed fogs
            - did a diy alignment, took it to factory specs from a half inch of toe in
            - swapped out the oil filter housing for a factory-new one, which fixed the slow oil pressure build problem. I think the anti-drainback valve failed.
            - scratched the fender carrying kitchen remodel stuff into my basement
            - went for a drive

I've actually been working on un-turboing my turbo e36 m3 more.

                        I suppose it could be.

Over the last few weeks, I did a head gasket and head swap on the car.

Ever since putting it together, it ran like crap and had a lot of top end noise. I swapped the oil filter housing, thinking that it had a issue with the drain back valve that was causing pressure issues. It did, and it was, but there were other things at play and the intake cam tray was already done for.

So, on went a head I had freshened up (exhaust guides, surface planed, valve job) and the cams/trays I got with it. Unfortunately it had been overheated in the past, which softened up the casting a lot. I had to timesert 7 cam tray studs and a lot of other tapped holes in the head casting, which wasn't ideal.

In the end, it seems to be holding together - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_LSU5FfkmoM

                              it's one photo time

Figured I'd change it up, so I picked up a set of BBS RC304 from a guy who lives 1.2 miles away and has had them in his basement for 5 years. These are insanely light and will make lovely track day wheels. The weds will be back, though, although the front ones will be mysteriously 12mm further in the wheel well than usual.
