This is such a cool project, are the rivets going to be covered or will they be exposed?

Everything with a gold cleco clamp will be an exposed rivet.

I've been buying hardware and adhesives for some fabrication this week/weekend. Hope to get it all mounted by the end of September.

I did a quick photoshop of making it red, I can't wait for this to be a painted, caged, rolling chassis.

I heard about him. Word is that he is a total amateur when it comes to metal work.....

This is true. Here is a good update of all the progress I have made to get it ready to be caged this November/December.

I fabbed up some rear bumper mounts and it is insanely solid. I love PC-7 epoxy.

I started to clean up the quarters and figure out a way to push the flares out more so I can fit more tire. With some force I was able to wedge a piece of 2" aluminum angle in there. Then I test fitted my style 5s with 215/40 off my e36 to see where I was at fitment wise against my super flared stock quarters. I was satisfied, it gave me plenty of room, 30mm worth of spacers fit. :woowoo:

Here is my old flare just kinda held up to where it was previously. Those rolled quarters fit 17x8et15 with 215/40 tires with zero rubbing.

Then it was onto rust repair as well as the dreaded tail panel.. I used the ease of access to mount my sparco tow strap, oem tow hook hit the M3 bumper cover.

During my daily craigslist check I saw a place that was parting an E39 528i with style 5s. I called em immediately and asked the price, $50 per wheel. I said hold them, I'm on my way. $200 later I have a set of street wheels for the E30.. :nice:

                  Aerocatch hood pins installed.

My buddy decided it needed a proper sized tire test fitment (275/35-18 on 18x9.5et20), oh and a 67" APR wing fitment :p This test fitting let me finally decide on my wheel/tire combo, 18x9.5et22 ARC-8 with 275/35-18 Toyo R888s.

Now it's back onto the rotisserie to be painted and patching the holes in my trunk.

I also grabbed a tube of SEM Seam Sealer to go over all my welds where I patched stuff in. I don't want any rust to show up! It looks terrible white but I got one coat of black on it before I called it a night last night and it looks a lot better lol.

My plan for this Sunday is:
fuel system refresh and install everything
one more quick coat of paint
install front suspension minus steering rack (need to source a Z3 one)
get it ready to be transported to IronFreak's shop for CAGE!

I have the exact same welder. I absolutely love it as a hobby welder. Mine is also set up for mig welding and it lays some absolutely beautiful beads. The build looks great!

not sure on the spoiler, I would go for a more classic dtm style spoiler. Still an awesome build though!
