Well the car has been driving great for the last few days. No real issues to speak of. So here's a few photo's of the exhaust wrap up on the car.

How do I get my whole unattached exhaust to the shop with my car? Roof rack of course!

Was recommend a small shop in Mansfield Ohio. The tech working on it was a real twat. I just wanted to show him what I was hoping for he was an absolute prick to me. I wasn't trying to hover and watch him work, just talk and show him what I wanted. I left him be and thankfully he didn't screw anything up.

And here's the end result. Stock E36 y-pipe (was cut and needed rewelded). Then they put a slight bend in my existing exhaust and it matched right up. Sounds pretty damn good too. It's got a high flow cat that I'm not sure of the manufacturer and the DynaMax super turbo muffler.

New 02 sensor with plenty of extra wires, lol

And that's about it till I finish up cleaning up the wires in the bay. It pulls nicely, sounds good but the idle is a bit lumpy. I'm suspecting either a dirty ICV which I'll pull and clean or the injectors which I was planning on getting a refreshed set anyways. I need to order a skid plate soon too, already bonked the pan once. I was lucky and found one of my extra 403 DME's I picked up had a Dinan chip in it. Swapped out the stock 402 for the chipped one and the difference is quite noticeable. Much better response and the top end feels a lot stronger.

The car is all done and back home FINALLY! Still need to clean up the wiring on the firewall and a few odds and ends. The exhaust is rattling on the sway bar and I need to put the interior back together. I also found one of the spare DME's I had purchased for trouble shooting has a Dinan chip in it! Score! Drove around 100 miles today without a single hiccup.

Drove the car around for about 45 very loud, but relatively uneventful minutes. Stopped and bled the radiator a few times as the temp would go up to around 3/4 for a second, then fall back below half, then repeat. It finally started to level out after bleeding it 4-5 times while out. Haven't got on it real good yet because it's still basically open header but it pulls nicely at around 1/2 throttle. Going to an exhaust shop monday to wrap it all up!! Sorry pictures, my photobucket exceeded its bandwidth for a bit.

A bit noisy but damn was it nice to take thing down the road a bit. Exhaust to get finished up next weekend, then it's simply little details to sort.

It moves on it's own again! You can see my surprised and relieved look when the clutch engaged perfectly and it moved first try. Had my brother stop by and help bleed the clutch, reinstalled the driveshaft and tightened up some odds and ends. Still has just headers on it but it runs and drives. Next up I'm trying to find a good condition OBD1 front manifold as I decided against using the OBD2 for the time being. Then it's off to the exhaust shop to get the y-pipe mated to my existing exhaust and it will be on the road! Oh and I need to check my thermostat housing as it doesn't seem to have fully sealed.

Just cross referenced part numbers for the OBD1 headers and I was correct. The front set of headers is a different part number between the E36 and E34's but the rears are the same. Oh well, picking up some OBD2 headers from NickL this week. Another one of those "should have done in the first place" things.

It was a huge relief that's for sure. Been trying to start it for about 4 weeks.

Were you at the Rolex 24 by chance? With a dude in a really nice lsb e46 m3?
Shit man I wish. Was stuck in Ohio in -4f weather.

Didn't think I was going to get to work on it. Snowed in pretty good.

So stoked it fired up today. I started out by putting the new Crank position sensor on.

Then I took all thr ground wires off, filed everything to nice fresh metal. Not sure if this really had an affect but can't hurt.

Then, well..it started. Sweeeeet. Video if you click the image.

Started cleaning up wiring and zip tied the harness up to the firewall. Need to figure how to get the relays to sit in their little holders. Ordering the m3 firewall cover for the passenger side.

Went to hook the exhaust up. Using obd1 manifolds from an e34. The y-pipe I had is from the e36 the motor came from. For some reason they don't line. I cut the y-pipe into individual pipes and the front header flange doesn't seem to line up at all. Is there a difference between e34 and e36 manifolds?

Hopefully next weekend, the car will move under its own power!
