Thanks! So Nisse where did you find the m20s stock bottom end limit?

I never did, i upgraded before it broke :)
First M20 setup was with M50 rods (nv i think) and shaved stock pistons, o-ring head gasket. Drove it like that for 2 years with 430whp without issues then sold the internals. (still looked great!)
The head had stainless +1mm valves, harder springs, Nuke billet rockers and a Z45 cam.

I think this is the most. Not technically 100% stock bottom end (milled pistons to 8.2:1 CR), but it counts in my books and is thoroughly impressive.
Interesting, I'd been waiting to see how much power those were good for. Do you know how much power your car was making? I was planning on grabbing some for V2 of my turbo build but wasn't sure they'd last.
They should be good for alot more power than 450-500hp, I believe the issue that the oem axle is usually a sealed unit that connects to the diff, Catuned is held together when its bolts to the diff flange. When I broke a few of the bolts under power it came apart lost all the bearings within the axles. I haven't had time to get pictures but here a crappy one.
Ah I see. I have a buddy with a turbo coupe and he pushed past, though not by much, 450 whp on stock axles and they lasted. I'm thinking of pushing to ~650whp next so was heavily eyeing the CA Tuned ones as they look super well made and are way cheaper than the DSS ones.
Power delivery and grip seem to be the breaking point of axles. I fried a stock one on a similar day, 14-15psi around 90-95F running rs3 255 wide tires. Ill contact catuned and see if I can get new parts for this axle or if a new one is needed. I dont think spinning tires is what breaks the axles, its the traction that does it.
This is another issue; I am stepping up my rear tires to 295/35r17 Kumho Ecsta XS because I'm tired of yolostancelyfe 225s under Kam's Ultra-Wides. We'll see how it goes haha!
