Thanks for the positive feedback. Yes smog is going to be a pain in the arse. I know for a fact the M3 will fail.. I gotta see what I can do. Here is a pic of the pair.

Tell me a bit more about that. I think I would have been here for like 4 months before I think I'll be going to the DMV to make the switch. Is it a per month fee for every month? I mean how do they know how long I've been here? I haven't gotten a ticket (knock on wood) but I do take the toll roads a lot. I do have 5 cars to switch in total. I hope that crap doesn't break the bank.

Yeah man I'm so done with the cold and putting my cars away for winter which in reality means like 6 month out the year. I love it here, I wish I would have done this years ago.

Why wont the M3 pass?? My brother has a grey market 190e 2.3-16 and he struggles with the smog, but eventually he passes. Is it a visual thing, or a tailpipe thing.

As for the other thing, I was here for a little longer than the 20 days and they have no way to check it, just right a date thats not over 20 days old and give them their money. If you are a AAA member, go there rather than the DMV. They can handle the vehicle title transfer and its not nearly as chaotic as the DMV.

Heres a link to the rule

California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) - apply for a REAL ID, register a vehicle, renew a driver's license, and more.

PS are you going to the Dockweiler gtg? I know you were at Archies and I just missed it because I was looking for a replacement vehicle, but I might have my E30 ready to go by then

        like he said

The date they use is on the title, when you bought the car, or bill of sale, so if you have owned the car for a long time you should be ok, as long as you do not put a date on the application that is past the deadline for the state. Here it is, I believe 20 days, not sure on California....be sure to find out everything 'before' you go in!
btw, beautiful cars!!:). Such a nice m3

Nope. It almost killed me and put me on the morning news for causing a traffic jam that backed up for 15 miles into the next town.

Fixed it, stripped all the good bits off, never drove it again, and sold it.

Thanks for the info man, the M3 wont pass smog since it has a VSR 1 cat on it. Last I heard those did not meet CA standards so Im sure thats gonna be a pain in the butt. In NJ I had classic registration so no smog check needed. The M5 is stock and I'll do the M-Tech before I do the swap so they should ok.

Not sure Im going to Dockweiler yet, I'll know by friday evening. I'll reach out if I go.

The more I hear about Ca. people having issues passing Emissions, the happier I am that I live in a place that I don't have to worry about it.
