Only traffic we hit was leaving work, we left early to get a head start on the trip as I had few little thing that needed fixing on the truck. Took us 2 hrs to go 45 miles.

    Morning on the road somewhere

Checked out the Indiana sand dunes, pretty cool little park.

The F350 in all her glory.

Never expected to see this in Indiana.

    Here's Ana doing a handstand.

Even though this trip is bittersweet, this is what memories are made of. Safe travels, fellow Bimmerites.

I'm still not sure how the guys driving those things don't run like 5 people off the road when they change lanes.

We saw a truck with the columns that hold the propellers too and they are equally massive. Couldn't grab a pic though.

              Lol

We crossed into Colorado around 1am after I gave up trying to stay awake. Ana put in an epic stint behind the wheel and I awoke at a rest stop around 5am mountain time.

My room for the night, which honestly was quite comfortable.

Nice! Any issues with the truck, other then using $15k of gas? Did you buy it just for this trip?

I bought the truck a little over a year ago and have been prepping it with this trip in mind. It's been really solid so far, we are on the last leg of the trip now with Denver in our sights then about three more hours over the pass and through the mountains to Carbondale. We have used about $600 in diesel so far, about what I had estimated.

                    My condolences on your loss.

I kinda get a little of how it must feel all the way around for the two of you. Ironically, my name is Gary and my 02 was one of the things on my "phuckit-list." That Verona gem did, has and continues to put life back into my life. I suspect Gary felt the same. It gives me great joy to see you guys on this mission. Had Ca beat me, my son would know this 02 was a big extension of me. I hoped he would pick up where I left off. I hoped he would get behind that Momo and have a big ass shit eating grin that would leave his jaw muscles sore.

I wanted him to feel how good life is. You know, the joy of driving and the addiction of automobiles. My wish is that you guys feel this 02 and Gary every time you open the garage door .

BTW, there are some 02 fanatics in Colorado. Post all of this on 2002faq.com. This group knows more about 02s (Bluntech Steve) than Munich. You will have another support crew on this journey.

                    Motor On!

Thanks for the kind words! Just took a peek at the car after we arrived around noon today, Ana has assembled and organized some parts during her last visit so getting it travel- worthy wont be such a monumental task.

Here are some pictures from the mountains, my truck was rolling so much black smoke coming over the mountains it reminded me of the old rail bed on hagerman pass where the soil was still black from the deposits left behind by the locomotives during all of the logging and mining days. My truck's injection pump is tuned for practically sea level so as soon as we hit Denver it starting churning out thick black smoke from running so rich. The lack of a turbocharger slowed us down above 8-9ft but I was still able to hold 50mph or so.

                        There's a 2002 under there somewhere

We've successfully extracted it from the garage!

We are heading to Walmart to get a drain pan for the old gas thats in it and then to the gas station for some fresh gas. Should have it running this afternoon!
