Car is de-trimmed and ready to be prepped for a respray after a long hiatus at the body shop.

Congrats to Ana! she did great at the school, earned the instructors 3rd place award for the group and we are looking forward to her racing with us!

It was a great weekend, she was nervous this weekend but I think she is ready for marrs 1. Should be a lot of fun!

Here is the only (blurry) picture I took all weekend, it was so cold I had my hands in my pockets or in gloves until about Sunday afternoon.

FWIW, I like the wheels (don't love them, but like them). There are enough 2002s running around on minilites and such. Nice to see something different.

I agree, not my style but its not like they are chrome 3 spoke fittipaldis.

Yes nobody likes the wheels BUT Gary liked them and we are keeping it that way for the time being. I'd like to think if I passed and left something behind unfinished someone would respect myself or at least the project enough to finish it as I envisioned it then maybe down the road tweak it to ones own liking. Besides, a nice set of wheels won't help us get the car done any faster. This car is still at least $6k away from being done and the current wheels support the car and the tires hold air.

They kind of remind me of my winter wheels on the e30, except they look a lot better than these old TSWs :)

At this point with the news about the paint I don't foresee having the car back until at least early summer, maybe right around Vintage. I plan on bringing the truck full of parts for the swap meet again so if the car has doors and glass and can seal up its a possibility we could throw it on the trailer.

The shop we are using for the paint and bodywork had to have a paint shop use some sort of scanning tool to determine the paint code since the original work was done by Ana's father. They were able to get a code that was more like a ford pearl white of some sort rather than chamonix. At this point rather than match what already has been painted we are having the entire car resprayed chamonix. This was the recommendation by the guys doing the work and we whole heartedly agree. The doors were also sort of a mess, we had them blasted and powdercoated with primer but the sheetmetal has too many waves and dents to salvage (will cost to much to straighten). We are ordering two new doors from the dealer and probably both vent wing assemblies when it comes time to trim out. I will post some more after we get back from the body shop Sunday.

I cant wait to see it in one color... I hate the wheels though, are you going to keep them for nostalgia or just waiting until later to get something thats not from the 90s?
