Thanks mate
Didn't know what about the heat. Thats a really good idea. It's been balls cold here in Idaho the last month so the metal has stayed nice and cold. I'll try with the heat gun in those harder to reach areas. Makes a lot of sense.

I just tested that out last night. The torch turned the seam sealer to butter. You could practically wipe it off after that. I imagine trying to scrape that stuff off in that cold temperature must be a bitch.Comment

Hell yeah! thanks for testing that out. I'll skip the heat gun and move right to the torch.

Work has been done. That long weekend really did the car some good.
LSD

Cleaned up, filled up, and now installed.

Shift pin service. It was a bitch. This tool saved my bacon. Rented it front Autozone.

New rear seal and flywheel

Painted 1/2 engine bay.

Runs for days. Sanded and did a second coat.

Other side taped off (and since primed)

Nice progress!! What are you using as filler? (or are you?) And what gun are you using to spray the bay? I'm getting close to those two items for mine :)

Are you reusing that flywheel or is that new?
Project build looks great :up:IG: deniso_nsi Leave me feedback here

Thanks Zack!
I just used some 3m seam sealer on all the seams. We don't really get rust here but I didn't want to risk it.
I didn't use any body filler. I was going to but I'm moving to Texas for the summer and want to get the car done before I leave. I skipped body filler and welding in plates for a complete shave. Time just wasn't on my side. If the rest of the car had good paint I would have not skipped those steps and I would have painted the bay calypo.
I'm just using some Rustoleum metallic grey paint in a rattle can. The project as a whole is way over budget so I decided against using 2 stage calypso paint, or spraying it with a gun and compressor.
It's a new flywheel. $390 on rockauto.

Walmart.

Thanks! I like it too. I would have gone with bronzit if I could
I think I will have the engine in the bay this weekend. I got new control arms and all that jazz. Time to get the rack all plumbed up, then get the brake booster installed then drop the rack and get the engine in.

This shit really, really pisses me off. The 42 draft desgin hardware stripped out when I tried to remove it. I remember torquing it to spec when I put it in and was thinking I was starting to bend the head a little. I was using a brand new caftsman Allen too. Well when trying to remove them I squared one, and the other two left are trying to follow suit. Not sure how to handle it.

Started painting my Zender front end.

RX-7 Brake calipers getting cleaned up

And subframe out and painted. Brake fluid wore a lot of the paint off. Engine is pretty much ready to go in.

Installed the guibo on the drive shaft, and put together shift linkage.

getting brake bolt off
Last time that happened to me, I used tons of pb blaster then drilled the center and hammered in an oversize allen wrench in and backed it out. Once they strip, they are a pain!
thanks for your help this morning and the car is looking great!
