Thats some amazing work. 51 hours of labor later... I wonder if there is some local old metalworker I could find.

Hoffamn "invented" the 2002, he told BMW the U.S. needed power. All early cars came in through him. Thanks guys! Over the past 24 hours, my silly ideas of an s2k swap have diminished. At first, the idea in my head was, "I got a roundie for so inexpensive, I could do anything to it and it wouldn't matter." Now, as I think about it, and talk to others, I've realized this thing is pretty special. If I want a crazy f20c powered BMW, I should use another BMW instead. So, I'll likely get this one running and driveable in it's factory form, and give it the love and affection it deserves, and not be a dumb kid and do something crazy.
I just got this email.
"The BMW 1602 VIN 1530514 was manufactured on June 30th, 1967 and delivered on July 05th, 1967 to the BMW importer Hoffman Motors Corp. in New York City."

Helmut Werner Bönsch, BMW's director of product planning, and Alex von Falkenhausen, designer of the M10 engine, each had a two litre engine installed in a 1600-2 for their respective personal use. When they realized they had both made the same modification to their own cars, they prepared a joint proposal to BMW's board to manufacture a two litre version of the 1600-2. At the same time, American importer Max Hoffman was asking BMW for a sporting version of the 02 series that could be sold in the United StatesComment

Did I miss how much you paid?
I have been looking for the "right" Neu series car for 20 years.
