    GLEE Z - The reason I own an e30 - non-e30 content.

The year is 1974. My dad is still a cheap son of a gun. He ordered his brown on brown no A/C 260z. A few months later it shows up with A/C and makes the dealer split the cost. 40 years later that dealer's mistake we are very happy about. lol. anyways my dad paid about 6000ish dollars for this car new. it has lived up to the Nissan standards. 400,000 miles, 36 years later it spun a bearing. Well this poor car has had to sit as I took over my dad's garage to restore my 4 door. But, finally it is time for this beauty to come back to life. Oh, another back story. my dad bought most of the interior, trim, hoses new from Nissan about 20 years ago in anticipation of restoring this car as his final ride. this car is about to get the same treatment that my car has received over the past two years. the budget is 10k, hahaha that's gonna be gone and hitting 20k before it's done. it has been re-sprayed once and has minor rust issues as it hasn’t been garaged a single day of its running life. Well I hope you all enjoy the hard work we are about to put in. We love nice things and I hope that this comes out as nice as we can make it. I owe my dad 1000s of hours of all the years of help he has given me for free on all of my e30s. Also giving back to the car that I learned stick on and the car that was ALWAYS there when my e30 was down.

Today we pulled the engine. we had to locate and dust off all the 11/12/14/27mm socket :/ things never seen by an m20…
my dad and his friend made up the word "glee" in 73 as this weird thumbs up dance thing. im not sure is glee as most people know it was a thing then but who cares, it's the name of the old girl.
but back when I ripped apart my mtech2 in 2010/2011 this babe gave me a ride.

this dash is sex. I can't wait to spin her tires again.

Well the work must go on. When I got to my dad's this morning he was already doing surgery. everything is so damn delicate. the wires snap if you look at them funny. but we will take our time and pull them apart very slowly.

After the PB blaster has soaked in all those dam 12mm bolts gave up and let go. Now we can really get in and pull out her heart.

I wuv this car. my dad has no clue how many times I stole it in college and just had a damn good time streeting her. you don’t need to go fast to have a really good time in a special car.

As it came out -390k miles done by this smiling face.

if the rides I got in this car and all the other cars I have owned, are any indication of how this motor was treated, this poor b26 has been beat to death.
I must leave her until next weekend. But, hope and work will make her into something my dad will enjoy for the rest of his life.

Amazing cars. My dad fully restored an early '71 240z in 1979 (already rotted out up here in Buffalo, NY) and has been driving it on special occasions ever since.

Once my e39 is sold I hope to get mine on the road, it's a '73 with an L28

Holy shit, ever since I went to a classic auto show I fell in love with the oldschool Z's.

Make it awesome, make it unique and make it something you and your dad will always love.

Love it man. The Z was the first car I really fell in love with. My parents came back from their honeymoon in 1980 to find my mom's car had been stolen from the airport. They bought a white/tan '78 280z to replace it. We actually still have it, but it's got major rust issues. Got my own '76 280z when I was 16. Needs a fair amount of metal work (rockers and floors), but it's gonna get a complete frame off resto. Gonna start on that once I take care of a few things on the E30.

My father has an original-owner 1975 280Z with 51,000 miles. No A/C, 4MT, and still with the original wheels and hubcaps. I try to keep it running because with only 51K on it things tend to dryrot before they actually wear out.

funny you say that. about 10 years ago my dad started collecting all the spare tires from 240/260z's so that when it was restored it could be on stock original rubber.

Is he going going to enter it in shows where they judge that sort of thing? Otherwise, I'd toss those tires, since they're well past the expiration date. Or use them just for shows, but no way I'd drive on them.
