First, the rust from the small coolant tube in the valley. I'll be ordering a new one.
Secondly, this is the water pump:

Third, I broke the fucking valley cover, so I'll be ordering a new one.
There was so much shit I couldn't see the valley cover. Had to get in there with brake cleaner to see the bolts. Then it was so stuck I had to remove the rear cover and get at it underneath with a screwdriver and mallet. Finally came loose, then got close to the front and SNAP. Fucker broke in half 2/3 down. No I didn't miss a bolt. It was that fucking stuck.
View once removed. Don't mind the broken off bolt. This is becoming a regular thing.
Anywho, I guess my list of things to get has gone up.
Edit: the cover I broke is part # 11 14 1 715 642. It lists for $552.74 on getBMWparts.com.
Pulled the engine from the RR and sold it to someone to install in another RRC. YAY.
So eyeballing the quickest way to get this together. Trans acquisition is quickly approaching.
Thinking about going wit MS2 3.0 just for fuel control, and run the spark with the distributors for now. Get familiar, then upgrade later on. I don't wanna drop in over my head right away.
